The final event for this year’s Concerts on the Shore is happening Thursday, August 13, from 5-9 PM. Madison legends Harmonious Wail get things started at 5, and Minneapolis band The Last Revel takes the stage at 7.

Tune in to WVMO at 6:00 PM on Tuesday, August 11, when I sit down with Lee Henke from The Last Revel to get familiar with their brand of front porch Americana, rich three-part harmonies and heartfelt songwriting. You’ll hear some great music, plus the real story of this band: small-town boys from Wisconsin and Minnesota who ended up playing some of the biggest, most historic stages in country music this July, and now, in August, you can see them for free right here in Monona.

Three ways to listen live:
- On FM at 98.7 in Madison and Monona
- Streaming at WVMO.FM
- On mobile devices using the TuneIn or Radio Garden apps

Come out to San Damiano Park, 4123 Monona Drive, this Thursday for the last show of the season. It’s free and family-friendly, with food and drinks available for purchase. Bring a chair or a blanket and enjoy the sunset over the lake.

Know someone who’d love this show? Tag them below or share this post — let’s pack the park for the last one of the summer.

I had to share a taste of some the magic being made in the WVMO studio when Ben Majeska from Armchair Boogie came by to talk about the band’s upcoming performance at Concerts on the Shore at San Damiano Park on Thursday, July 16. That will be the first time Armchair Boogie has ever played in Monona and you can hear all about when you tune in to The Good Kind Tuesday night (tonight!) at 6 PM Central on WVMO. We also talk about the growth of the band, life on the road, making time to write songs, and their two upcoming Phish after party gigs at Madison Majestic on 7/7 & 7/8.

“The more they dance, the crazier we’ll get.”

That’s the promise from Chicago Blues legend Lil’ Ed, and after nearly 40 years of touring with the Blues Imperials, he hasn’t slowed down a bit.

I had the chance to sit down with the 2024 Blues Hall of Fame inductee for a brand new episode of The Good Kind. We talked about everything from his uncle J.B. Hutto walking on top of garbage cans while playing slide guitar, to how Ed ended up recording 30 songs in just three hours for his legendary first album on .

This interview is the perfect warmup for his FREE show right here in Monona for Concerts on the Shore!

Catch Lil’ Ed & The Blues Imperials live at San Damiano Park on Thursday, June 25th. Reverend Raven & the Chain Smoking Altar Boys featuring Westside Andy are opening up the night, so grab a spot on the shore and get ready to boogie.
