Released 70 years ago: “Julie Is Her Name” by Julie London. Already becoming established as a Hollywood actress, this was the 29-year-old singer’s debut LP. Featuring renditions of “songbook” standards and accompanied only by jazz guitarist Barney Kessel & bassist Ray Leatherwood, this spare, intimate set is considered her finest and includes her most popular single “Cry Me a River.” This LP reached #2 Billboard. Who else got to be a part of the magic this week? ✨🎪

Jon Batiste is a global treasure, and we were so fortunate he chose to spend two nights in Madison!

We tried very hard to get him on the air with help from WVMO, WSUM, and his team, but schedules and logistics didn’t mesh. We hold promise for better luck next time! In the meantime, enjoy these snapshots from a fantastic couple of nights.
