Released 70 years ago: “Julie Is Her Name” by Julie London. Already becoming established as a Hollywood actress, this was the 29-year-old singer’s debut LP. Featuring renditions of “songbook” standards and accompanied only by jazz guitarist Barney Kessel & bassist Ray Leatherwood, this spare, intimate set is considered her finest and includes her most popular single “Cry Me a River.” This LP reached #2 Billboard.
