UpShoot donated a Temple of Bloom Heptacodium for an Arbor Day planting last spring at the Fairport Harbor Fire Department. I recently checked on it and it is flowering and happily supporting pollinators. I am looking forward to the fall change to showy red bracts. More info in comments.

I'm not ready for fall, but I at least look like it! Another wonderful weather weekend in NE Ohio meant a seasonal outdoor decor reset. Any iffy looking annuals were sent packing to the compost pile, and a couple of mums, pumpkins, and gourds with Hallon decorations were added to the front entrance. Happy almost fall ya'll!

Remembering the anniversary of 9/11. I was in DC on 9/11, lobbying with fellow green industry colleagues on behalf of the ONLA for ANLA. We watched the Pentagon burn from our hotel. It's a day I will never forget and will always remember.

On Thursday morning, the U.S. flag will be unfurled from the side of the Pentagon to mark the 24th anniversary of the September 11 terrorist attacks.

Thinking ahead...the National Garden Bureau announced their 'Year of the" Crops for 2026. NGB provides a plethora of info on their 'Year of' selections to help you market them to the trade or consumers. They've done the work so you don't have to.

Images of each ‘Year of the’ crop will be available on the NGB website on Nov. 1, 2025, with the program officially starting in January 2026.
