Madisonville City Council considers a 7.1% increase to water bills to address a $365,460 deficit. Residential customers could pay about $6 more monthly. In addition, the Police Department is down two officers, Starbucks is opening on Aug. 4, and the city is to receive a tourism designation.

The Madisonville City Council will consider raising water rates when they meet again in August following a work session discussion Monday night at City Hall. City Manager Fabrice Kabona proposed a 7.1% increase for residential customers living within city limits.

Three methamphetamine dealers won't see Madison County streets for a long time. One got 20 years. Read how local law enforcement helped put them behind bars in the Madisonville Meteor.

Three men convicted of dealing methamphetamine in Madison County received prison sentences ranging from 12 to 20 years after separate undercover operations by local law enforcement. Steven Morales received the longest sentence of 20 years from Judge David Moorman on May 19.
