A thunderstorm knocked out power in parts of Columbia County on Tuesday afternoon, June 2, 2026.
The Magnolia Square area was affected, along with neighborhoods along and south of Calhoun Steet between Height and Pine streets. Entergy Corp. customers between Free Hope and Village were also affected. In total, about 200 Entergy customers were without power in the county. .Entergy estimates power restoration by 4 p.m.
At 1:38 p.m., the National Weather Service in Shreveport issued a severe thunderstorm warning for southwestern Columbia County and north central Webster Parish.
At 1:38 p.m., a severe thunderstorm was located over Macedonia, or 5 miles south of Magnolia, moving southwest at 10 mph.
Wind gusts of 60 mph wind gusts and half dollar size hail were possible.
Affected areas are Magnolia, Springhill, Cullen, Taylor, Emerson, Macedonia, Smithland, Bussey, Welcome, Calhoun, Horsehead and Walkerville.
