A 360 interactive panorama from Hapuna Beach, Kohala Coast, Big Island of Hawaii.

Hapuna is one of the largest white sand beaches on Hawai‘i Island. The shoreline shifts with the seasons, broad and calm in summer, narrower and rougher in winter. The sand is fine and pale, bordered by lava bluffs and dry kiawe trees.

Generations have come here to mark time: first swims, family picnics, quiet walks at dusk. The old trail still threads along the bluff, where kiawe trees lean inland and the ocean never stops moving.

Love this serene capture of a quiet moment on the North Shore. One person, alone, surrounded by sand, sea, and sky. This 360° panorama shows the calm side of Oʻahu, somewhere near Turtle Bay. 🐢🌊

Near Kulima Point, just east of Turtle Bay Resort,

Locals call this stretch Turtle Beach. Green sea turtles used to bask here, and the name stuck. Turtle Bay Resort is off to the left, across Kulima Point.

This part of the coast feels different. No crowds, no noise, just open shoreline and stillness.

An awesome aerial 360° panorama from Honu Lagoon • Ko Olina Resort, West Oʻahu, Hawaii. USA

This scene captures one of our favorite morning swim spots. Honu (Turtle) Lagoon is calm, clear, and best enjoyed early, before the parking fills and the sun climbs high.

Honu Lagoon is one of 4 lagoons at Ko Olina.🐢

Share your memory of here it in the comments.🙏🏻

Ko Olina is the quiet counterpoint to Waikīkī. Its name means “Place of Joy,” and it lives up to it: 642 acres of manicured coastline, protected lagoons, and golden West Side light.

The land here carries deep history. Ancient Hawaiians cherished it for its abundance and beauty. Today, it’s home to luxury resorts, cultural events, and Lanikūhonua, a cultural site that practices and propagates Hawaiian culture🌺

Ko Olina is glorious. This panorama invites you to pause, reflect, and take in the view. 🌅

An older 360 aerial panorama of Kīlauea Point and Kilauea Lighthouse on Kaua‘i’s north shore. A peaceful place, we have not been there recently.

Locals still call it Kilauea Lighthouse, despite its official renaming to the Daniel K. Inouye Kīlauea Point Lighthouse. Built in 1913, it stands on a 180-foot bluff within the Kīlauea Point National Wildlife Refuge.

This 360° image is old; please do not fly over the refuge due to its protected status and active seabird nesting. The cliffs and offshore islets are critical habitat for native species like the red-footed b***y, Laysan albatross, and wedge-tailed shearwater.

Kaua‘i is the oldest of the Hawaiian Islands geologically, and Kīlauea Point offers one of its most dramatic coastal views.

The refuge is open Wednesday–Saturday, 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. (last entry 3:30 p.m.). Timed-entry reservations are required and must be booked online. Entry is $10 per adult, plus a $1 reservation fee. Children under 16 are free. Federal passes are accepted but still require booking.

We love this 360 aerial panorama from the Big Island. What are your recollections from here?

A clear, lovely day over Kaunaoa Bay showing the beautiful shoreline, the Mauna Kea Beach Hotel tucked into the coast, and the quiet presence of Mauna Kea and Mauna Loa beyond. 🐟🤙

Adore the slightly dated old-timey vibe of the Mauna Kea Hotel.

Built in 1965 by Laurance S. Rockefeller, the Mauna Kea Beach Hotel was Hawai‘i Island’s first resort. Rockefeller chose this location after swimming in the bay, envisioning a place that honored its natural surroundings. Designed by Edward Charles Bassett, the hotel blended open-air architecture with native art, setting a thoughtful tone for development along the Kohala Coast.

An older 360 panorama from Lanikai Pillbox Hike (Kaʻiwa Ridge Trail). 🌺🌊

It has been a long while since we have hiked this.

This short ridge trail climbs above Lanikai Beach and leads to two concrete bunkers built in 1943 as coastal observation posts during WWII. From the top, you get clear views of the Mokulua Islands, Kailua Bay, and the Koʻolau Mountains. The trail is exposed, with loose dirt and a few steep sections, but the elevation gain is modest—about 450 feet over less than a mile.

An excellent aerial 360 panorama from Oahu's Makapuʻu Beach showing Makapuʻu’s shoreline, the Koʻolau Range rising inland, and Mānana Island (Rabbit Island) offshore. Makapuu lighthouse makes an appearance.

What is your experience at Makapuu Beach?

The Makapuʻu Beach is more than 1,000 yards of sandy shoreline, this spot is known for bodysurfing, though conditions are often rough.

Makapuʻu is known for dramatic terrain and hazardous ocean conditions. Rip currents here are frequent and strong, especially near rocky outcrops and tide shifts. 🛟🌊

Fun Fact About Rabbit Island:
Rabbits were introduced to Manana Island (Rabbit Island) in the 1880s by John Adams Cummins to protect his Waimanalo sugarcane fields. Though the colony thrived for decades, it was removed in the 1970s due to ecological damage. Today, the island is a protected seabird sanctuary with restricted access.

Honolulu, Oahu, Hawaii, USA.

You can see all the way to Makakilo in the West and Leahi (Diamond Head) in he Southeast. All of Honolulu, from Chinatown to Waikiki is visible. The backdrop is the Koolaus on one end and the Pacific Ocean on the other.

Kaka‘ako Waterfront Park, once a city dump with incinerators and clouds of flies, is now a green space perched above the ocean—and just offshore, Point Panic remains a legendary bodysurfing break. The name fits: steep takeoffs, no boards allowed, and the occasional shark sighting add to the adrenaline. In recent years, lifeguards have cleared the lineup after reports of 8–10 foot sharks cruising the area, including an “aggressive” tiger shark feeding near the break. For locals, it’s all part of the thrill. 🐋

We spend a whole day at Kakaako, it is was relaxing and peaceful. This has not always been the case.

A 360 aerial panorama of Puaʻena Point and Beach Park, Haleʻiwa

North Shore, Oahu, Hawaiian Islands, USA

Located just outside Haleʻiwa town on Oʻahu’s North Shore, this mellow beach park is a summer favorite for beginner surfers. The reef helps shape clean, manageable waves when the rest of the coast is firing—ideal for lessons and low-key sessions.

Historically, this shoreline was part of a network of loko iʻa (fishponds) and coastal settlements that sustained generations of kānaka.

Facilities are basic: portable toilets, limited parking, no lifeguards.

Sharing this older 360° panorama looking out over Pōkaʻī Bay from Kuʻilioloa Heiau, a quiet spot with deep roots in Hawaiian navigation and voyaging.

📍 Kuʻilioloa Heiau, Waiʻanae Coast, Oʻahu, Hawai'i

The heiau sits in a grove of coconut trees, surrounded by ocean on three sides. It was once a place where Polynesian navigators trained and received blessings before long journeys. Lonokaeho, a legendary voyager, built the site using stones brought from Tahiti.

Today, the area still holds spiritual weight, but it’s changed. There are now semi-permanent houseless encampments here, a testament to the challenges facing our communities. 🥹
