One of the most powerful weapons you have against the enemy and darkness opposing you is your story of overcoming through Jesus Christ. By putting your trust in God and sharing what He has done in your life, you are disarming the enemy. When we share our stories of hardships and other things we have had to struggle through in life, we are ultimately helping those who are listening to our stories. When others hear you have overcome a particular situation, it releases faith and inspiration for them to overcome something they may be struggling with. Be bold and share your story as God leads you!

The few. The proud. The contest goes on...

Friends, today marks Day 7 in our journey and the arrival of "Part 2 - God Is Always For You!" in your daily readings from Tasting the Goodness of God. As I read "Day 7 - Conquer" today, I was reminded of what prompted me to write this section about God truly being in my corner. There was a period in my life where I felt that God was no longer for me, but actually against me. It is a horrible feeling, and I would never wish this fear on anyone! However, as I began to seek God in His Word again, I quickly discovered that not only was God not against me, but He desired for me to overwhelmingly and even quickly conquer things in this life that come against me.

It took me months to realize how God truly was fighting my battles for me. As I began to realize this deep truth as a Christian, everything in my life began to change. I went from having a victim mentality, where someone or some dark force was always attacking or overtaking me, to having a victor mentality, where I was no longer alone, but God stood beside me and before me, defending and strengthening every area of my life.

For me, realizing I was "more than a conqueror through Christ" has been a life-changer. It drew me out of months of struggle and frustration, into a place of faith and trust, which ushered in victory over problems I hadn't had before. During Part 2 of your reading, I encourage you to truly seek God and understand that He really is fighting your battles for you, that He is 110% for you, and that He truly does want you to conquer and thrive in this life!

Day 6 is possibly the most important day in "Tasting the Goodness of God". Of all things we believe and know about God, the most important thing we need to know is that God loves us! Because He loved us, He gave up His one and only Son, Jesus Christ, to die for us. Have you told anyone lately, "God loves you"? God's love never fails!

When I first started writing this chapter's message on trust, I started out intending to discuss putting our trust in God. However, as I began to write, I felt led to reverse the roles and discuss God trusting us as His stewards. Oftentimes, we hear the phrase "In God we trust". But I think it is also important to show God by how we live daily that God can trust us with what He has given us. Think about it. God has authority over all things. With one breath, He can turn any situation, great or small, around. As we seek Him and prove ourselves trustworthy, I believe God breathes an extra measure of favor and blessing our direction. While we never have to earn God's love, we do have to prove ourselves as faithful stewards over time by treating God's Word seriously.

As I read about the story of hope from my childhood, how I was always hopeful to receive a new toy from my Dad, it taught me at an early age how the Father responds to our prayers in a comparable way when we ask of Him. I think sometimes I am lacking something, not because God didn't want to give it to me, but simply because I have not asked Him yet. For example, some days I wake up with a short fuse and could use an extra measure of patience. These are the days I need to ask the Father, and of course, He is more than happy to grant me the gift of patience! The best part of trusting God is knowing that when we ask Him for something, whether it is a material or intangible thing, that His response as our Heavenly Father is always good.

I really enjoyed reading "Day 3 - Understand" today. Understanding the Lord's will is often much simpler than we may intellectually think. Jesus describes the Lord's will as the same "on earth as it is in Heaven". What's in Heaven? Healing, life, joy, peace, love, abundance, freedom, and many other indescribable gifts.

While in this world, I believe God wants us to experience His healing, life, joy, love, and gifts that are from above! Seeking God by reading His Word opens the door for us to encounter heavenly realities while still living in this fallen world.

I just finished reading "Day 2 - Know" from Tasting the Goodness of God. I really like the analogy of good thoughts and bad thoughts in a fishbowl. This illustration helps me to consciously "capture" the different thoughts that go through my mind every day. As I strive to capture more positive thoughts or "good fish" to develop a more enriching thought life, I am developing a great habit that helps me make decisions and view life in a life-giving way. Thinking about positive and Godly things throughout the day makes life in all areas better.

Part 1 - God Is Always Good!

Greetings!

I am super excited many of you have accepted the challenge to read through my book "Tasting the Goodness of God" every day this month to help start your 2026 New Year off right by spending time with God each day. I will e-mail everyone once a day from here on to help keep everyone on track and to encourage you.

Today, you should be reading "Day 1 - Believe". I start with "Believe" because ultimately, we can only grow closer to God when we put our trust in Him. Do we believe what God says in the Bible? Do we believe He is always good?
If God is always good, then the pressure to entrust our present and future plans to Him is lifted. By knowing He is good, we can expect and know that God has great plans for each of our lives this year and that He wants to do even more in our lives this year for His glory than ever before.

Friends, I am believing 2026 is going to be the year I see family and friends break free of things holding them back from God's best in life. I am believing God is going to bless our health, our relationships, our finances, and every area of our lives like never before. I am believing 2026 is going to be the best year yet!

I look forward to spending the next 31 days with you, as we seek God and His goodness together. Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions about the daily readings.
