Unfortunately, tis the season where scammers step up their game and make it difficult for legitimate small businesses to do business online. So, here are some hints that may help you w**d out the scammers. Comment with more.

No, you don't need to call them. If they order from Amazon or any other retailer they don't have that option. Don't offer your number or call them. They can use your phone number to reset your password and gain access to your linked bank accounts.

No, PayPal, Venmo, or any other payment app will not send you an email saying you must put money in to receive payments. Don't give out your email to people making payments.

Don't make a custom product without receiving payment first. If you put a name on an item you can't always resell it if the customer doesn't pay for it. Always demand at least a deposit to cover your materials.

Check the customer's (or seller's) profile. If they just joined the platform recently, don't have many friends or followers, and don't have any reviews, they might be a scammer. Do your research.

If they don't have a good understanding of your language, or their grammar just seems "off", they might be a scammer.

Scammers can be VERY convincing. Trust your gut. If it doesn't feel right, it probably isn't. If it sounds too good to be true, it probably isn't.

How we came to be

Started in the driveway of our house in Panama City Beach, FL, doing chalk painting on furniture, windows (with glass etching, etc.), and anything else I could get my hands on, I figured out this was a passion I didn’t know I had.

From there, I moved on to small glass etchings, experimenting with color and shadows. Soon, my husband had purchased two sizes of compressors which turned out not to be big enough for what I wanted to do next. So...SURPRISE! He bought me a blasting cabinet and large compressor and I took off from there. Eventually, I moved on to etching tumblers, computer cases, windows (big) and lots of other things. My customer base began to grow slowly.

A year later, a move to Missouri, and I’ve expanded to t-shirts, painted and etched tumblers, baby clothes, keychains and more. If you can dream it, I can create it! I’ve even expanded into a second business with a partner, creating cemetery photos on ceramics and sublimated tiles.

Who knows where we’ll go next, but it’s always exciting, and my customers are loyal, and continue to grow. Thank you!
