This year, we celebrate the 90th birthday of Arvo Pärt. Born in Estonia in 1935 and known for his minimalist style, Pärt has been the leading composer in contemporary classical music and one of the most-performed living composers of our time. Following great success in film scoring, Pärt went on to develop his iconic poly-stylistic sound in the 1970s, employing “tintinnabuli” – simple triads with bell-like qualities. Some of his best-known works include Fratres, Spiegel im Spiegel, and Für Alina.

Originally a saxophonist herself, Chicago-based composer Stacy Garrop has enriched the sax repertory with works that offer daredevil excitement and an insider’s affinity for the instrument.

Garrop's "Athena Triumphant" is required repertoire for the 2026 North American Saxophone Alliance (NASA) quartet competition: https://www.grothmusic.com/p-150359.aspx
