I will say that when they first went in office, the police, chief and asst chief we’re doing extra to make sure that they were handling the office with respect. Then after a year to a year and a half in office, they act like they don’t care. You never see the assistant Chief in town, and when you see the Chief all he’s doing is riding around. In other small towns, Police Chiefs work alongside their officers, direct traffic for school crossings, work all town events and support the citizens and youth. We have not had a good Police Chief in this town for years. We need someone to run that care cares about the crime, the safety of people, and has a heart.  but we also need someone who’s stern and enforces the law. The speeders, ordinance and law breakers, and general duties need to enforced and we need someone that will handle this job seriously and not hide behind budget that he says is too low to enforce these things.
Also what about the elderly of this town that has to endure the loud music from vehicles passing in front of their homes? Business owners that dont care, about the loud music they have coming from the bar, and build an outside venue backed up to a neighborhood with people that work and are elderly. Many have health conditions that are affected by the base in those same speakers ( for example: heart conditions). When you call the PD or your councilman for the downtown, there is absolutely nothing done, and excuse is blamed on the other to try and get something done, with no results.
If anyone is wanting to make a
Difference please run for office in the next election.
There will be change coming!

As I drive around our town today and this evening, I noticed a change and not for the good.
Mamou, if you’re going to allow golf carts , and side-by-side to run the streets all day. With speakers and driving carelessly, then change the city ordinance’s.
None of these are being enforced .
I could hear loud music in my home , and I live several blocks off of sixth Street . As I drive tonight in town, I noticed people just parked in parking lots drinking out of their vehicles, cans on the ground right in front of them, and really loud music coming from the vehicles. Again, no Police seen downtown Mamou.
There are a lot of bars that were kickin, but there was one with the front doors open and an outside area that had music blaring out the front of it, I think they call it the Coulee . I feel really sorry for the people in the surrounding neighborhood, . There were people standing in the street drinking. But we are dealing with the loud noise all over town, I live several blocks away and heard the music coming out of this place at my home. Very disrespectful.

How have we allowed our great town to turn into such a disrespectful atmosphere?
The only time I see news from our Police Chief , is him traveling to Europe or buying a new vehicle for his wife. Apparently it pays well to be a Police Chief in Mamou.
We need better leadership in this town . Remember that elections will be coming up next year. And I’m not talking about replacing them with someone that has had the chance in the past. I’m talking about new blood and people who care to make the change and not scared to enforce the change.
We have to do better !

When you live in a town that doesn’t enforce laws and ordinances, and the leaders and police blame each other.

This damn bar should never been allowed to open in a neighborhood. However, the owners could choose to respect the neighbors and entire neighborhood. However, they choose to have speakers and music on the outside patio ( which also should not have been allowed). I have asked for them to enforce the loud music ordinance, and make her close the doors. She states she follows the law and closes the doors. Tonight as my house shakes, both front doors open, patio door, and side door open, and speaker music on the patio. The laws and irdinances arent being followed. And I never saw one police officer pass or even try to enforce the ordinance.
You should be able to hear the music all the way from the police Dept. And I know you can because I took a ride and passed in front of the police Dept and I could hear it.
The refusal to manage and protect this town shows us that we need new leadership in office. You have been given three years to prove yourself. Improving Mamou by focusing on four projects, or occasionally doing a public service escort, does not constitute your three-year office.
Please remember this when you’re going to the polls and vote quality, qualified politicians!
If you care aboutout our town, The safety, preserving, and have the qualifications and drive to do good and improve our town run for office go and register at the courthouse in Ville Platte ……just do it!!!!!! we need politicians and a police department that will do things for the good of the community and not themselves or the title.

Mamou! Take notice of the police presence,  enforcement, and community safety given to us by our police department and current elected officials.
In the previous administration and the current administration, Mamou police and city, chosed which ordinances and laws they wanted to enforce, and the others went on the back burner.
Remember when politicians come up for reelection remember this. Those that live out of town seem to have more to say about the administration. But those of us that live in the city limits can testify that we are not safe and we have no support from our current administration and police Dept.

Mardi Gras Mamou RECAP

Police Chief Hall posted and stated on TV these rules for this year’s celebration.

Let’s look at these
- No ice chest or backpacks with drinks in them. Witnessed several people cross a guard at a barricade in front of the police station heading into a crowd with the backpack cooler. And they never stopped him.

- No blocking driveways parking in yards are blocking alleys. There is trash and ruts around town from where people were parking and in the middle of the road blocking traffic. They were not towed. I also saw several alleys being used as parking spaces and were never towed nor enforced.

- No playing loud music- yeah right how are you going to do this with bands outside, bars with doors open and live bands, vehicles allowed to drive around town bumpin through neighborhoods.

- all traffic laws being enforced. While at the American Legion Post - There were trucks with lights under and in wheel wells. One had his trunk riding around with it open and fully lit. Did i mention speakers filled the trunk and was bumpin hard. And turned next to the police dept by a deputy directing traffic.

- No open carry or concealed carry allowed . I’ll leave that right here

And the whole time officers and deputies standing in large groups talking and not walking crowds and looking for these infractions.

Pat Hall you can’t make promises and not follow through with them. But I guess that is how you got In office. Time to stop looking the other way and do what you were elected to do.
Escorting parades and making public appearances is not what your job is about. Start enforcing the laws!

Everyone remember this when the new election year comes.
