This is how you make a New Bright reliable and hobby grade.
The story. I found the NB rc at a local goodwill last summer. I grabbed the truck, tor the body off and put it aside. Its a massive 415mm wheelbase.
I found a 10.3 that needed axles and I got to thinking... thats a 2 piece frame. I can get a 2nd frame, cut it, and use the pieces to extend it. A quick pm to and off to building I went.
He sent me a simple 10.3P axle set and donor chassis and I had it before Christmas.
A quick eyeball, mark and prayer, we were off to building.
I reused the skid for the rear links and kept the origional on for the front links. Yes there's more than 1 skid. The links would be too long for this to be a usable trail rig.
I checked my stock to see what wheels and tires I had... Treal Hobby wheels (I have used their wheels for half a decade now) and their TrailBurner tires went together with ease. I like the 6 bolt lugs. It matches the GM feel.
Now the next challenge. Drive shafts. The front was fine. The rear... that was tough. I found a 70mm carrier bearing on Amaxon. Its 70mm wide, but the chassis is 80mm. I ground down the rear skid to support it against the chassis and it lined up with the 10.3 transmission holes. I used long screws, spacers off the axial kit, and some nylons to fasten it together. Its phased and smooth.
