One day, they won’t ask if they can have another marshmallow.

They won’t fight over who gets to hold the roasting stick.

They won’t come running inside with sticky fingers and chocolate somehow smeared across their entire face.

And you’re going to miss it.

That’s the sneaky thing about childhood.

You think you need to create these huge, magical experiences for them.

The perfect pumpkin patch.
The expensive fall weekend.
The coordinated outfits.
The elaborate traditions.

But when they grow up?

It might be the simplest nights they remember most.

The first chilly evening when everyone grabbed a sweatshirt.

Sitting outside way past bedtime.

The smell of the fire.

Dad absolutely incinerating his marshmallow and insisting, “That’s how I like it.” 😂

Someone dropping theirs on the ground.

Someone stealing an extra piece of chocolate.

Everybody laughing.

And those tiny hands carefully building a s’more like it’s the most important work they’ve ever done.

That’s childhood.

Not perfect.

Not elaborate.

Just ordinary moments that somehow become the ones you wish you could go back and live one more time.

So this fall, don’t wait for the perfect weekend.

Light the fire.

Bring out the blankets.

Put the phones down.

Make the s’mores.

Let them eat one more.

Take the picture — even if nobody is looking at the camera.

Because someday the little person sitting beside you will be grown.

And you may realize the magic wasn’t really in the marshmallows or the chocolate or the fire at all.

It was in being together.

🍂 Our little EnFête S’mores Kits were made for exactly these kinds of nights — a tiny treat for the little moments that turn into really big memories. 🤎

If your grandpa is still here, take the picture.

Seriously.

Take the picture.

Ask him to tell the story you’ve already heard 100 times.

Sit beside him a little longer.

Call him.

Go see him.

Celebrate the birthday.

Because there are some things you don’t realize are a privilege until you can’t do them anymore.

I wish mine was still here.

I wish I could hear his voice one more time.

I wish I could sit at the table and listen to one more story.

I wish I had asked more questions.

About his childhood.

About the trouble he got into.

About his dreams.

About the things he was proud of.

About the things he would have done differently.

About what life had taught him after 70… or 75… or 80 years of living it.

When we’re young, we think Grandpa will always be Grandpa.

Sitting in his chair.

Still saying he knew that answer on Jeopardy after they finish the response.

Giving the same advice.

Calling you the nickname nobody else uses.

Doing those tiny, ordinary things you barely notice because you assume there will always be another time.

Another Sunday.

Another Christmas.

Another birthday.

Until there isn’t.

And suddenly, you’d give almost anything for one more ordinary afternoon.

That’s the thing about an 80th birthday.

We joke about the number.

We tease them about getting old.

We put **80** on the cake and gather everyone around to sing.

But eighty years is extraordinary.

Eighty years of stories.

Eighty years of people loved.

Eighty years of mistakes and lessons and laughter.

Eighty years of a life that helped shape the lives sitting around that birthday table.

So if you are lucky enough to be celebrating Grandpa’s 80th…

Make a big deal about it.

Get the cake.

Set the table.

Use the good napkins.

Invite everybody.

And take so many pictures that someone complains about it.

You can never have too many pictures of someone you love.

Trust me.

Someday, those pictures won’t feel like “too many.”

They’ll feel like they could never possibly be enough. 🤍

Happy 80th to all the grandpas still sitting around the table.

And to the ones we wish more than anything still were.

But the people gathered around it?

**That’s what you’re really celebrating.**

Nobody tells you that turning 50 isn’t really about getting older.

It’s about realizing how much life it took to get here.

Fifty.

There was a version of you at 20 who had absolutely no idea what was coming.

She didn’t know who would stay.

Who would leave.

Which plans would work out beautifully…

and which ones would fall apart and somehow lead her somewhere better.

She didn’t know how many times she would have to begin again.

She didn’t know the strength she would find when life required more of her than she thought she had to give.

She didn’t know the people she would love.

The babies she might hold.

The goodbyes she would survive.

The friendships that would become family.

The mistakes she would eventually forgive herself for.

The ordinary Tuesday afternoons she would someday wish she could experience one more time.

She didn’t know any of it.

But she kept going.

And now here you are.

**50.**

Not old.

Not finished.

Not fading into the background.

You are standing in a life it took fifty years to build.

There are laugh lines on your face because you laughed.

There are things you know now because you lived them.

There are boundaries you finally stopped apologizing for.

There are people around your table who know exactly who you are and love you anyway.

And maybe there are still dreams you haven’t gotten to yet.

Good.

Because 50 isn’t the end of the story.

It’s the age where you finally understand that you don’t need everyone’s approval to enjoy the life you’ve been given.

So wear the dress.

Take the trip.

Order the cake.

Let them throw the party.

Take every picture.

And for goodness’ sake, put the **50** on top of that cake.

You earned every single one of those years.

Because a milestone birthday isn’t something to hide.

It’s evidence that you were here.

You loved.

You lost.

You learned.

You laughed.

You became.

And you’re still becoming.

Here’s to 50 years of stories…

and to all the ones you haven’t lived yet. 🤍

✨ Our 50 & Fabulous napkins were made for more than just the birthday - all year long, celebrate the everyday.

It was made for a life worth celebrating.

One day, they’re going to stop saying “hold me.”

And you won’t know which time was the last time.

That’s the strange thing about motherhood.

The days can feel so long when you’re in them.

The snack requests.
The toys everywhere.
The tiny shoes you keep tripping over.
The bedtime routine that somehow requires seventeen additional glasses of water.
The little voice calling “MOMMY!” approximately 847 times before lunch. (My granddaughter we call baby bird with a constant 'mama, mama, mama' candence.

And then suddenly…

They’re TWO.

Two.

How did that happen?

Yesterday, you were counting their age in months.

Now they’re running through the house with frosting on their face, blowing out a candle they’ll probably try to grab two seconds later. 😂

And everyone tells you, “Enjoy it. It goes so fast.”

But no one really explains what that means.

It means one day you’ll pack away the 2T pajamas.

One day those tiny mispronounced words will disappear.

One day they won’t reach both arms up when they want you.

One day you’ll look at a photo from their second birthday and wonder how the little person in that picture became the big kid standing in front of you.

That’s why we celebrate the little things.

The cake.
The balloons.
The ridiculous amount of frosting.
The pictures.
And yes… the tiny candle on top.

Because it was never *just* a number.

It was **two**.

Two years of watching a whole little personality appear.

Two years of kisses and cuddles and chaos.

Two years of becoming their safe place.

Two years of loving someone so much it almost hurts to watch them grow.

So light the candle.

Take too many pictures.

Let them lick the frosting.

Sing Happy Birthday loudly.

Because you don’t get this exact version of them forever.

And someday, that tiny little “2” might be the thing that takes you right back to the year they still fit perfectly in your arms. 🤍

🎂 Celebrating TWO soon? Our EnFête 2 Birthday Candle was made for this little moment you’ll want to remember forever.

There is a strange moment when fall arrives and nobody in your house needs school supplies anymore.

For years, September meant forms.

Backpacks.

New shoes.

Sports schedules.

Lunches.

A calendar so full you needed three different colors just to understand it.

You couldn't wait for things to slow down.

Then eventually...

they did.

The backpacks disappeared.

Nobody needed poster board at 9:17 at night.

Dinner stopped being scheduled around practice.

And the house got quieter.

It's one of motherhood's great contradictions.

You can be incredibly proud of the adults your children became and still miss the little people they used to be.

Both things can be true.

Maybe that's why September can feel a little tender after the children are grown.

The season remembers even when your schedule doesn't.

So let it become something new.

Invite friends for dinner on a school night.

Stay outside with your husband until the evening gets chilly.

Go somewhere for the weekend without checking anybody's sports schedule.

Call the grown child who once needed you for everything and now has a calendar of their own.

And when everyone does come home?

Make too much food.

Put something pretty on the table.

Enjoy the noise.

Then enjoy the quiet again when they leave.

Not every beautiful season looks like the one before it.

Sometimes you have to let fall become new again. 🍂

There is probably something about your house you'd like to change before you have people over.

The kitchen.

The sofa.

The paint.

The rug that has seen things.

Maybe you've actually said:

“Once we finish ______, we'll have everyone over.”

But houses are never really finished.

By the time you paint one room, another needs something.

The new sofa eventually becomes the old sofa.

And the kitchen renovation you're dreaming about will someday be dated, too.

Meanwhile, life is happening.

Your parents are getting older.

Your children are building lives of their own.

Friends move.

Neighbors change.

The people available to sit around your table today may not be the exact same people available five years from now.

So don't make them wait for the countertops.

Clean the bathroom.

That's enough. 😉

Order the pizza.

Put something pretty on the table.

Dim the lights if necessary.

Then open the door.

Because nobody leaves a wonderful evening saying:

“The company was fantastic, but that backsplash really ruined it for me.”

They remember how they felt.

Whether they laughed.

Whether they could relax.

Whether somebody poured another glass and said:

Stay a little longer.

Make your home beautiful because you enjoy it.

But don't wait for beautiful to become perfect before you live there.

People make a house ready.

There are people who watch football because they genuinely care about football.

And then there are those of us asking:

“What are we having?”

No judgment.

Everyone brings something to the team. 😉

There’s something wonderfully uncomplicated about a fall football gathering.

Nobody expects fine dining.

Chili works.

Sliders work.

A bowl of something involving cheese definitely works.

Put drinks on ice, turn the game on, and suddenly people who haven't seen each other in months are crowded around the kitchen island.

Kids are running through the house.

Someone is yelling at the television.

Someone else has absolutely no idea what happened but is cheering anyway.

It's not fancy.

That's exactly why it's good.

Not every gathering needs a centerpiece and a seating plan.

Sometimes hospitality is simply making it easy for people to come.

Game starts at four. Come whenever. Bring nothing.

Those might be some of the best words you can send.

Put out the good snacks.

Use the fun napkins.

Make something warm.

Let everybody serve themselves.

And if your team wins, wonderful.

If they lose?

There's always dessert.

Because football season may technically be about football.

But years from now, I'm fairly certain nobody will remember the score.

They'll remember whose house everyone went to.

And what they ate.

Especially what they ate.

09/03/2026

You know the grandchildren are coming when you suddenly have snacks in your house that you haven't purchased in twenty years.

Juice boxes.

Tiny crackers.

Some cereal containing colors that do not occur in nature.

And somehow Grandma's house has rules that your own children are quick to point out did NOT exist when they were growing up.

Yes, there can be a cookie.

Yes, you can have whipped cream.

Yes, we can watch it again.

Your mother will be here soon. 😉

Grandchildren have a funny way of making a house feel young again.

Little shoes by the door.

Fingerprints on the glass.

Toys appearing in rooms that haven't held toys in years.

Someone calling for you from the other end of the house.

And this time, you know something you didn't fully understand when your own children were small:

It goes ridiculously fast.

Back then there was laundry and work and dinner and bedtime and tomorrow's schedule.

Now you know the mess will get cleaned.

The toys will go back in the basket.

The house will become quiet again.

So let them help make the cupcakes.

Let them choose the napkins.

Let them collect acorns for the table.

Let dinner be a little late.

Take the picture.

Because someday they'll be adults remembering Grandma's house.

And they probably won't remember what you served.

They'll remember that there was always a place for them.

And probably snacks.

Definitely the snacks.

09/03/2026

Fall birthdays always feel a little different.

Maybe it’s because September already feels like a fresh start.

New season.

New routines.

Another trip around the sun.

When we're children, birthdays are mostly about anticipation.

How many sleeps?

How many presents?

How big is the cake?

Then somewhere along the way, the number starts getting complicated.

30 sounds serious.

40 arrives suspiciously quickly.

50 makes you wonder when exactly you became the grown-up in the room.

60?

By then, maybe you understand the assignment.

Another birthday isn't evidence that you're getting old.

It's evidence that you're still here.

Still laughing.

Still making plans.

Still learning things about yourself.

Still calling your children.

Still meeting your friends for lunch.

Still buying shoes you absolutely do not need.

Still getting another September.

That's worth putting a number on the cake for.

So don't hide the candles.

Don't apologize for the age.

Gather the people who have known different versions of you.

Take the picture even if you don't love pictures anymore.

Eat the cake.

Let them make a fuss.

Because birthdays were never really about getting older.

They're one day each year when the people who love us get to stop and say:

We're glad you were born.

At 6.

At 36.

At 66.

That part never changes. 🤍
