Hi, Friends! This week's issue of The Guide is all about Autumn in the Archives!

There are a ton of great Fall stories in our current issues of Stratton Magazine and Berkshire Magazine, but also in our archives! The librarian/archivist in me can't help but revisit those stories that shine in my favorite season.

One of my favorites was our cover story on the fabulous Grace Potter in Vermont Magazine 's Fall 2023 issue! Can't help it, I'm a huge fan!

With Stratton Mountain Resort's popular HarvestFest long weekend coming up October 9 through October 13, I was thinking about the story I wrote in last year's Stratton Magazine Fall issue about this well-attended, well-loved event up on the Mountain during foliage season.

It's also officially October now and Spooky Season has begun!

Hiya, Friends! Have you seen yesterday's issue of The Guide yet? You'll see we're a little preoccupied by all things Fall. Can't get enough!

We're gathering up all our Fall decorations and planning our designs- some of us will be keeping it simple, while others will go all out! I visited Equinox Valley Nursery and Garden Center in Manchester for inspiration- it's an autumnal paradise!

We'll be checking in with our friends at Church Street Hospitality in next week's issue to see their inn and restaurant properties decked out for autumn! Can't wait!

TOMORROW NIGHT FOR ONE NIGHT ONLY!

Dorset Theatre Festival presents a one-night-only staged reading of the new play Bad Dates: End Game by prolific writer and Pulitzer Prize Nominee Theresa Rebeck, directed by Tony Award-winner John Benjamin Hickey, starring Tony Award-winner Julie White.

The performance will take place Tuesday, September 9 at 7:30pm at the Dorset Playhouse.

Hi, Friends! The latest issue of The Guide highlights one of Southern Vermont's favorite stinky events: the Garlic Town, USA Festival!

It's the 30th Anniversary of this super-popular festival that has been bringing locals and visitors together in droves (or cloves!) for three decades.

Congratulations to the Chamber of Southwestern Vermont and all their incredibly fabulous volunteers for putting together this memorable event year after year.

Today is the 250th Anniversary since Remember Baker was killed at the young age of 35.

Baker built the Gristmill of East Arlington on Old Mill Road, and - with his cousins Ethan Allen and Seth Warner - he founded The Green Mountain Boys.

Baker died fighting for Freedom and Independence. A group of local reenactors saluted him today.

Thank you to everyone involved who remembered … Remember Baker.

Hi, Friends! The latest issue of The Guide is out! I was very inspired by summer stone fruits, especially peaches (can you tell?)

I found a great recipe for peach pie at King Arthur Baking Company; had a delicious Grilled Stone Fruit Salad at The Lake House Pub & Grille; and scored some of The Chocolate Barn's sought-after peach ice cream!
