Before a packed meeting room at Town Hall on Monday night, the Select Board confirmed longtime Manchester officer Mark McCoy as the town’s next police chief, succeeding retiring Chief Todd Fitzgerald after 35 years on the force. Later this week, an 8-ft (10-ft if you count the base) recreation of "Seated Cat (Sphinx)" by Manchester sculptor Katharine Weems will be permanently installed in front of the Cape Ann Museum's soon-to-be reopened Pleasant Street campus in Gloucester.
