BEER OF THE WEEK goes to this hazy beauty the DUKE NEEDS A BIGGER BOAT DIPA from Spyglass Brewing. This isn't the first time Spyglass has been the BOTW, but with the quality IPA's they put out you shouldn't be surprised. This one had a lot of stuff happening that I like with a ton of citrus, stone fruit & hoppiness for days. Some fun can art as well that brought back some nice Jaws nostalgia from when I first saw it as a wee lad. I always find good stuff on draft when I swing through Defiant Records & Craft Beer in Laconia, NH & this visit was no different. 🍻🍻☘πŸ”₯✌β™₯️🍺

Part 2/2 🍻

Let me get into the last five beers I took down at The Mallard in Londonderry, NH during the fantastic Brasserie Sir John Brewing co. tap takeover recently. My first five beers I checked out a few posts back on my page were all dank & delicious IPA's that didn't disappoint. This time around we'll check out a few different styles with some sours, a saison & stouts. What were my two favorite winners on the menu this time around, let's get into it. 🍻☘

SALT N PULPA (ORANGES, TANGERINES, BANANES & CREME GLACE) Fruited Gose 8/10* πŸ†

SMOOTH OPERATOR [TANGERINE, ANANAS, MANGUE, BANANE, NOIX DE COCO & VANILLE] Smoothie Sour 7.5/10*

CARMIN 2025 Saison 7.5/10*

PERDITION Stout 8/10* πŸ†

KWIK FRAISE Pastry Stout 6.5/10*

These were all pretty much bangers, but two stood out among the pack. That SALT N PULPA (ORANGES, TANGERINES, BANANES & CREME GLACE) Fruited Gose was phenomenal & pretty much everything I look for in a sour & gose. All the gimmicks worked here coming together to make something delicious. The PERDITION Stout was also a definite winner here. It was a nice thick motor oil stout that had some excellent coconut, vanilla & coffee on top of the chocolate. Cheers! 🍻πŸ”₯☘✌β™₯️🍺

Beer spotlight. πŸ»πŸ»πŸ”¦πŸ’‘

When a couple friends throw you some beers you haven't had from breweries you have never heard of, you take them no questions asked. A couple IPA's here to check out, one from New Jersey & the other from Tennessee so let's get into it. 🍻🍻

DAMGUDAY IPA from New Heights Brewing Company 5.5/10*

LAYBACK IPA from Twin Elephant Brewing Company 7.5/10* πŸ†

That DAMGUDAY IPA was just okay & might have been a little past the drink by date since it had some floaties. The citrus, tropical flavor & haze was there though, just didn't standout. The LAYBACK IPA was a delicious clean citrus bomb with some good mango & grapefruit in the mix at 7%ABV. It's always good to get my hands on some new beers from breweries I haven't been to for my pallet & my Untappd profile. Cheers! 🍻πŸ”₯β˜˜πŸ†βœŒβ™₯️🍺

Checked out The Forum Pub in Concord, NH for a few pints, a burger & some live music. This place has been on my radar for awhile now & suggested by a few friends so I was happy to finally get here. The Forum Pub opened its doors in 2024 & was born from the ashes of Area 23, a popular Concord pub that closed in 2023. It seems like most of the staff transitioned from Area 23 to The Forum Pub according to the internets so that's a good sign of a well run small business. The pub was bumping when we entered, but we were able to find a couple seats at the bar luckily. We were given a couple kazoo's by the owner to play along with the singer, but my kazoo skills aren't what they once were I'll tell you that much. That being said I came to check out the tap list & get some new beers in me so let's get into it. 🍻🍻☘☘

I scooped up the RED SKIES AT NIGHT-PASSION FRUIT/HIBISCUS Cider from Stormalong Cider for my first alcoholic beverage here. It was good, but overly sweet with too many gimmicks happening at once. My second pint was the GAME FACE IPA from Little Willow Brewing Company. This brewery rarely misses & this was no different, a delicious hazy, citrusy & earthy 7%ABV New England IPA. I closed the visit here with the LOST FORREST: IDAHO 7, GALAXY, CITRA Triple IPA from Beer Tree Brew Co. This was a really good tropical, peachy & mango filled 10.2%ABV Triple IPA that hid the booze pretty well while still reminding you it's there. 🍻🍻πŸ”₯☘

I got the Forum Burger medium with cheddar, applewood smoked bacon & carmelized onions. It was good, but it was a little dry & could have used a house sauce or something else on it. That bacon was heaven though & the fries were cooked perfectly. The bartender Bonnie was working not only the bar, but the packed dining room herself & didn't let that hinder her great service. There was no beer list online, on Untappd or physically to check out which would have made ordering easier at the bar. The live solo act was excellent & he was throwing in some good humor in between sets. Great spot that had a good community driven feel with a lot of regulars & a fun owner, cheers! 🍻🍻πŸ”₯☘✌β™₯️🍺

Beer spotlight. πŸ»πŸ»πŸ”¦πŸ’‘

Ain't nothin' but a sour parrrty. I had a handful of sours recently since I had only been drinking IPA's for the most part the past month or so with some light beers tossed in here & there. I'm usually a smoothie or pastry sour guy, but I wanted something a little lighter for day drinking in the heat. Let's check out the two different sours I took down from some New Hampshire breweries & choose a winner. 🍻🍻☘☘

HYPERPOPSICLE Sour from Woodstock Inn Brewery 7/10*

PEBBLES Sour Feathered Friend Brewing 7.5/10* πŸ†

That HYPERPOPSICLE Sour was good, it had more flavor & body than I thought for being so light at 4.2%ABV. That PEBBLES Sour brought the berries & was perfectly tart & crisp at 5.5%ABV. This was a great sour that hit with raspberries & red fruit galore, I would have loved to have grabbed a couple more cans for later. 🍻🍻☘πŸ”₯✌β™₯️🍺

Part 1/2 🍻

I took down ten different beers of varying styles & sizes from Brasserie Sir John Brewing co. at their tap takeover at The Mallard in Londonderry, NH recently. This was the second tap takeover I have attended here & like the first it didn't disappoint. I was on a mission to do as many beers as possible & try all the styles, I mostly succeeded. 🍻🍺🍺

There was a lager, pilsner & schwarzbeir offered, but I went right to the haze & dark beer to get as many heavy hitters in as possible. I tossed in a sour & gose to cleanse my pallet in between the IPA's & darker stuff at the end. Let's start with the five different IPA's I got & go over my favorite two. 🍻🍻πŸ”₯☘

JERICHO, VT (CHAPITRE 20) IPA 7.5/10*

LUMIERE INCERTAINE IPA 7/10*

IN-N-OAT IPA 8/10* πŸ†

BLAST 2 Triple IPA 8.5/10* πŸ†

LONELY BOY Triple IPA 7.5/10*

These were certainly some excellent IPA's & they held the standard you would expect from this brewery. The IN-N-OAT IPA was delicious & just slightly creamy enough where it didn't weigh down the beer. There was plenty of hoppiness & grapefruit on the mouthfeel & fin, definitely a beer I would get a 4-pack of for home. That BLAST 2 Triple IPA was phenomenal & I wish I had grabbed a full pour of it instead of just a taster. It was packed with citra as well as galaxy & strata that hid the 9%ABV with its phenomenal tropical haze. I grabbed a 4-pack of the original BLAST Triple IPA for home so I'll get to that soon. Great time like always here & the takeover just makes it that much better. I'll go over the next five beers I had in part two in a few days, cheers! 🍻🍻πŸ”₯☘✌β™₯️🍺

The seventh & final stop on my Cape Cod trip was Tree House Brewing Company in Sandwich, MA for a few pints. This was the third Tree House location I have been to including the Charlton, MA brewery & the taproom in Tewksbury, MA. The taproom here wasn't as large as the others & had the smallest draft list of the three, but I was able to find a few new beers I hadn't had yet. This waterfront Cape Cod location opened in late 2021 & was the fourth Tree House location to be opened. Of course this location stands out for being on the ocean & having a great view while sipping on some New England hazies. There was still a handful of different styles offered here on top of the IPA heavy tap list including porters, pilsners, stouts, wheat wine & more. I got a few pints of that juice to enjoy while taking in the ocean so let's get into what I took down. 🍻🍻☘πŸ”₯

I started off with a pint of the ocean view appropriately named SHARK TOOTH IPA. This hazy was smooth & piney with some nice pineapple in there swimming around. My second pour was the CAN YOU TAKE ME HAZIER DIPA at a decent 8.2%ABV. This was a super cloudy New England hazy with mango, melon & papaya on the mouthfeel. My last pour was the CRUMBLE DIPA, a peachy & creamy cinnamon filled DIPA that tasted like a liquid donut. It was good, but having more than one pour of this would probably be too much. That CAN YOU TAKE ME HAZIER DIPA was the favorite of my three pours here. 🍻🍻☘πŸ”₯πŸ†

It was the perfect time to be here & enjoy the outside seating looking out on the ocean. Like I mentioned before the taproom itself isn't as big as the others, but theres plenty seating outside. They have all the usual seating options including tables, hightops, patio tables & Adirondack chairs which were perfect for setting my beer on. They had pizza here like the Tewksbury, MA location I frequent the most, but we were eating elsewhere so we didn't get to see if there was a difference between them. There was some beer to go as well & a fun merch room to check out. Drinking excellent beers with a good ocean view is what makes this location standout though for sure, cheers! 🍻🍻☘πŸ”₯🌊✌β™₯️🍺

Tuckerman Brewing Company spotlight. πŸ»πŸ»πŸ”¦πŸ’‘

Had a great trip up to northern New Hampshire recently in Conway & brought home some goods to check out I didn't drink at the brewery. Let's check out the three different styles I got, all light offerings for the warm weather coming our way for a few months. 🍻🍻πŸ”₯β˜€οΈ

TWILIGHT American Lager 6.5/10*

WILD RIVER Witbier 7/10*

KOLSCH 8/10* πŸ†

Some good stuff here, they got increasingly better as the beers went on to. That TWILIGHT American Lager & WILD RIVER Witbier were solid above average examples of their respective styles. Someone had to win the three way dance & take home the title in the end though. That KOLSCH was excellent & one of the crisper Kolsch's I've had recently, a beer you could definitely have a handful of & be happy. 🍻🍻☘πŸ”₯✌β™₯️🍺

Brewery sidequest. πŸ»πŸ»πŸ—‘πŸ›‘

Hit up The Prodigal Brewing Company NH in Auburn, NH for a couple pours of a new style I hadn't tried yet. At least I don't remember trying this style, but it could have been named something else. I got to chat with the owner & brewer Max, talk with some locals & hangout with the goats outside the brewery for a few. 🍻☘🐐

The tap list had some great traditional offerings, but the JOHNNY COME LATELY Graf Beer, a mix of beer & cider caught my eye & ended up being a perfect choice. It was exactly what I needed on a hot day & I scooped up two since they hit so good. 🍺🍺πŸ”₯☘

Great spot if you're trying to complete New Hampshire, but the hours are tight. 🍻🍺
