Flag Hill Distillery & Winery in Lee, NH for a flight of assorted liquor & a glass of something red. In a attempt to hit some new fun local spots I saw Flag Hill was less than twenty minutes away & a no brainer on a Saturday for a visit. These guys have been around since 1990 doing their thing with twenty five plus years now under their belt. The property here is pretty large with the winery, distillery & tasting room taking up enough space to do a tour of with a guide or a self-guided tour around the property. Both a distillery & winery in one it was the perfect balance of styles to try. They offered a flight of five with a detailed menu accompanied by the flight card where you could choose a mix of wine & liquor or just get a flight of one of the two. There was a good amount to choose from making the choices difficult, but I decided to start with a flight of five different liquor options & finish with a glass of red wine. π₯π·π₯πΊπ»
My flight of five spirits started off with a brandy called the GRAHAM'S GRAPPA, a delicious grape brandy that was smooth & had some bite to it for my first taster of the day at 45%ABV. My second taster was the STRAIGHT BOURBON WHISKEY, this was intense & full of notes of butterscotch & toffee. The third taster was the BREAKFAST BOURBON, it had a ton of flavor with notes of espresso, caramel & more. This was definitely the most subtle of the three whiskey/bourbon's I had. My fourth taster was the WANDERLUST - PORT BATCH #1, this was the STRAIGHT BOURBON WHISKEY I talked about above, but aged three years in Flag Hills port wine barrels. It was different, with notes of cocoa & dried plum. The last taster I scooped was a CRANBERRY LIQUEUR, it was super sweet & tart, made with Massachusetts cranberries. For my last beverage I grabbed a glass of the FLAG HILL RED wine, it was good with hints of raisins, cherry & spice, but a little more buttery than I prefer. π·π₯π₯ββ
There was not a big amount of food options, we chose to get the three cheese platter & it definitely paired well with both the spirits & wine while easing the harshness of the bourbon. The grapes & olives on the cheese platter were perfect to eat between sips of that FLAG HILL RED. The dining room was really comfortable and inviting with the bottle store right down the hall. There was only table seating that I saw inside, but there was a small outside seating area as well for warmer weather. Great place & I'm glad I checked it out, well worth swinging through for a wine & spirit flight for sure, cheers! π»π·π₯π₯ββββ₯οΈπΊ
