Canobie Lake’s water level has fallen noticeably this year, with the drought affecting views from homes in Salem and Windham as well as the lake that shares its name with the amusement park. As of Friday, the lake was about 216.3 feet above sea level, and officials say it could reach its shallowest level since 2016 by the end of the season.

A longtime vision to support children and families on Manchester’s West Side is now a reality. The nearly 20,000-square-foot Mark Stebbins Community Center celebrated its opening Tuesday with a ribbon-cutting attended by about 300 people.

Named in honor of the late Manchester businessman and philanthropist, the center brings several nonprofits under one roof to provide child care, after-school programs, affordable health care, community space and other support services.

The most watched race on the 2026 primary ballot — the fierce fight for the Democratic nomination in the 1st Congressional District — was a cliffhanger with Portsmouth Democrat Stefany Shaheen holding on to earn a slim victory.

Maura Sullivan of New Castle never allowed Shaheen to open up a comfortable lead with Carleigh Beriont of Hampton in a surprisingly strong third position.

Portsmouth auto dealer Anthony DiLorenzo will carry the Republican banner in New Hampshire’s open 1st Congressional District race after defeating Hollie Noveletsky and state Rep. Brian Cole in Tuesday’s primary.

The first-time candidate says his campaign will focus on health care and energy costs, housing and good-paying jobs as Republicans try to break a 12-year losing streak in the district.

If New Hampshire Republicans are to pull out a win in the state’s 1st Congressional District this November, it will be up to Portsmouth auto dealer Anthony DiLorenzo to break

New Hampshire voters have set the stage for what should be the state’s closest U.S. Senate election in a decade: former Republican Sen. John E. Sununu against four-term Democratic U.S. Rep. Chris Pappas.

The gloves are already off, with the candidates and their allies spending millions of dollars on dueling attack ads before the primary was even decided. Now, with control of the Senate at stake and eight weeks until Election Day, the battle to replace retiring Sen. Jeanne Shaheen is underway.
