It may be early September, but we've already flipped the calendar and the October issue has made its way to the printers.

The latest issue features a look at the new movie, Granite Orpheus (produced by former editor Rick Broussard and New Hampshire Home Photo Editor John Hession); a visit to NH's heirloom apple farms; the famously creepy house in Pittsburg and exploring haunted places with Paranormal Investigators of New England.

It's a issue filled to the brim with fall fun and you can grab your own copy here: www.yankeenh.com

Mushrooms are having a moment — and New Hampshire is leading the charge. 🍄

At the New Hampshire Mushroom Company LLC in Tamworth, Eric Milligan is growing dozens of varieties and teaching others how to do the same. In Brentwood, William Dunkerley, owner of Dunks Mushroom Products & Foraging LLC is creating mushroom jerky, pot pies, even rye cocktails — and supplying 50+ restaurants across New England.

Both are part of a growing local movement to bring the power (and flavor) of fungi to the forefront.

Want to know how mushrooms are transforming from forest finds to culinary stars?

🛥⚓️If you’ve ever dreamed of setting sail to Star Island, meet the man who’s been doing it daily for 25 years. Capt. Jack Farrell and his custom-built Mussel Ridge 46, The Shining Star, are more than just a boat and a captain — they’re the beating heart of the Isles of Shoals. Part freighter, part ferry, part unofficial postmaster, Jack’s Mailboat run is equal parts tradition and adventure.

Whether you’re looking for a scenic ride, a history tour, or a custom charter (yes, even burials at sea), it all starts at Pepperrell Cove.
