PERDITION TEMPLE – The Tempter’s Victorious (Hell’s Headbangers)
Fresh off the bloody heels of their pulverizing Sovereign of the Desolate 7”, Perdition Temple is already back with their full length debut, The Tempter’s Victorious. Right from the opening blast of the title track you know you’re in store for what just might be the best Black Metal album of the year, even surpassing the new Marduk. And yes, I know that’s a bold call considering this thing is barely coming out this month. But this is a pure beast, and I can’t imagine anything topping it, or even coming close. “Extinction Synagogue” features some of the best guitar work on the album courtesy of guitar maestro Gene Palubicki (ex-Angelcorpse) and his former bandmate Bill Taylor (also of Immolation). Riffs go from insane to FU***NG insane from one second to the other, leaving little time to take it all in at once This is why I recommend repeated listenings, just so you can fully take in what is presented here. “Scythes of Antichrist” assaults you with some intense machine gun drumming, and again, that god damned guitar just rips you to shreds. This is pure Metal bliss. Absolute monstrous obliteration from beginning to end. I could go on like this for hours, but what you really just need to know is that The Tempter’s Victorious is on a plane all its own in an endless supply of great to terrible Metal records that you’ll see for the next few years. Truly blessed by the great dark one, Perdition Temple is the best band on your “to do” list, and if you ignore what I’m telling you, you are one dumb mother fu**er. I must congratulate Hell’s Headbangers for presenting this to the Metal world. Cheers, you Satanic mongrels! And to the fine blasphemers of Perdition Temple, I salute you as the new Gods of Black Metal! (AP)
