A Republican mayor who voted for Donald Trump is defying his executive order renaming Lake Ontario to “Lake America.” Mayor Robert Corradino of Oswego, New York—a city along the lake’s southeastern shore—told CNN’s Erin Burnett that the historic body of water is central to his community’s “identity.” “I don’t care if you’re Republican, Democrat, Independent,” Corradino said. “This means a lot to the residents of Oswego and Oswego County.”

MapQuest is making an unexpected comeback after defying Trump’s renaming of Lake Ontario to “Lake America.” MapQuest General Manager Doug Berger told Erin Burnett that usage is “through the roof,” with downloads surging to more than 1.5 million. “It was not intended to be a political stance...it’s fun that we’re talking about geography,” Berger added.

The son of an American couple who survived the devastating floods in Nepal is preparing to reunite with his parents. Looking ahead to the reunion, his mother told CNN, “I’m going to hug them and cry because I am an emotional mama.” Her son, Vikram Ravi, reflected on the harrowing ordeal, telling Brianna Keilar, “I’m just thankful that I was able to hear her tell me that she’s okay, rather than having to go look for her.”
