We remember Chadwick Boseman's fifth death anniversary today. Despite having a long list of acting credits, he is most known for portraying King T'Challa/Black Panther, a character that millions of people came to identify with strength, pride, and hope regardless of race.
After receiving a Stage 3 colon cancer diagnosis in 2016, Chadwick fought in silence for four years as the disease advanced to Stage 4. He completed seven inspirational films, including the multibillion-dollar Black Panther, Da 5 Bloods, and Ma Rainey's Black Bottom, despite undergoing multiple surgeries and chemotherapy.
Beyond the screen, Chadwick was a real-life hero who supported cancer patients, donated to hospitals, and uplifted communities with his humility and kindness. Cancer patients and supporters worldwide are still motivated by his resilience in the face of unspeakable suffering.
His last Marvel performance as T'Challa is also available to watch on Disney+ in What If…? Season 1, Episode 2.
The legacy of Chadwick Boseman lives on.
