One of my biggest flexes forreal! Going vegan pushed me to finally learn how to make all my Guyanese favorites from scratch. Iโm talking roti, curry, pine tart, cheese roll, chow mein, brown stew, pepperpot, you name it. And what I realized along the way is that the real heavy hitters in Guyanese cooking arenโt meat at al! Itโs the spices, the aromatics, the plants, fruits, and vegetables that make the dishes TRULY shine!
Learning to veganize these recipes has felt like calling on my ancestors in the kitchen, reconnecting with culture, and flexing the ultimate plant knowledge. ๐ฑ The fact that I can throw down whenever I want and taste my heritage in every bite? Thatโs the biggest flex. ๐ช๐พ ๐ฌ๐พ I know I make my ancestors proud ๐ฅน
