I am writing to formally express my concerns regarding the plumbing rough-in recently completed for my new washing machine connection.
I retained a plumber who represented himself as a master plumber and paid $1,500 in cash for the installation of a washing machine outlet box, including supply lines and a drain connection. Upon returning home to inspect the work, I observed several issues that raise serious concerns.
The water supply lines were installed directly behind existing electrical conduit, creating what appears to be a potentially unsafe and improper configuration. Additionally, the standpipe for the washer drain was installed at a height that appears insufficient to allow proper drainage from the appliance. Based on my understanding, the drain must meet certain height requirements to ensure correct pump discharge and to prevent backflow or overflow.
When I raised these concerns with the plumber, I did not receive a professional or substantive response. As a result, I am now facing the likelihood of hiring another licensed professional to evaluate and potentially redo the installation, which represents an additional financial burden I had not anticipated.
Given the circumstances, I would appreciate guidance on whether these installation practices meet standard plumbing code requirements and what options may be available to address deficient workmanship.
Thank you for your time and consideration.
