“Curated and produced by Natalie Burlutskaya, the program will explore Hispanic and Latin musical heritage through a fusion of classical, jazz, and contemporary voices. The evening also includes a tribute to Mother Cabrini, patron saint of immigrants, whose life and mission align with the concert’s themes of migration, identity, and resilience.

“Each piece tells a story of resilience, migration, and transformation—themes that deeply resonate at Cabrini Shrine,” said Natalie Burlutskaya, co-founder of Spotlight Artists and founder of RE:ARTISTE International Art Organization.

At the center of the concert is Alexander Chaplinskiy, pianist and Music Director, whose programming brings together both well-known works and rarely heard gems. Dubbed “The Rock Star Pianist” by Operawire for his benefit performance of The Great Gate of Kiev, Chaplinskiy has been recognized for his commitment to cultural dialogue and contemporary Ukrainian repertoire.”

Artist Spotlight 💥 Laura Virella is a Puerto Rican mezzo-soprano and passionate advocate for underrepresented composers and poets. In ‘From Falla to Chick Corea’, Virella performs selections from ‘Canciones para Laura’ by Jack Delano — a Puerto Rican composer of Ukrainian descent.

This repertoire forms part of her ongoing research and recording project to revive Delano’s lyrical, humanistic music, connecting her own heritage to broader cultural narratives of migration and belonging.

In 2022, Laura Virella (MM ‘07, Voice) released Al menos cantos, in collaboration with Russian-Mexican pianist Alla Milchtein. The album was the first commercial studio recording of music by composer Jack Délano and includes two unpublished works: Canciones and ¿Cómo he de irme?

October 17 - FROM FALLA TO CHICK COREA

Tickets: https://givebutter.com/toPrBy

We are performing it at a very special place, St. Frances Cabrini Shrine. Located in Upper Manhattan, it honors Mother Frances Xavier Cabrini, the first U.S. citizen to be canonized and a beloved patron saint of immigrants.

Born in Italy in 1850, Mother Cabrini came to New York in 1889 to serve newly arrived Italian immigrants, founding schools, hospitals, and orphanages across the United States.

Today, the Cabrini Shrine stands as both a place of pilgrimage and a symbol of compassion, resilience, and the immigrant experience in America.
