Wanna know how we did it? This is our story:
Three years ago, we set out on a wild idea with nothing but a sketchpad and a dream: to build a fantasy board game that anyone could pick up and play. Growing up, we loved epic games like Dungeons & Dragons, Guild Wars, Skyrim but they were complicated, time-consuming, and intimidating. Too many game nights ended before they even began because no one wanted to start the journey or take on the role of Dungeon Master.
So we asked ourselves: What if we could bring the magic of those worlds to the table without all the barriers?
With that question, The Lost Lands of Verne was born. It started with late-night brainstorming sessions, hand-drawn maps, and scraps of lore scribbled on Google Docs. We spent countless nights playtesting with friends, tweaking mechanics, and building a game that blended the strategy of classics like Risk and Catan with the adventure and storytelling of fantasy role-playing games.
We had no funding, no team, just pure passion. We traveled to factories, sifted through hundreds of prototypes, and poured our savings into producing our first batch of games. It was terrifying and thrilling. When those first boxes arrived, we weren’t sure anyone would even care. But they sold out in weeks.
From small gatherings at local cafés to 500-person game nights across NYC, a community began to form. People were falling in love with the world of Verne and its kingdoms, creatures, and stories.
Today, we’re standing on the edge of something bigger than ourselves. We launched our Kickstarter to bring Verne to tables around the world. It’s been a few days and we raised $30,000, but our dreams are bigger. It’s been years of late nights, crazy ideas, and relentless belief in this dream.
This isn’t just our story, it’s yours too. Welcome to Verne.
