When we think about “glowing up” or looking our best, we usually think about skincare routines, makeup, or outfits.

This is a fun part of it 🧖‍♀️

But the most attractive thing you can wear is a regulated nervous system.

Beauty is a luxury of safety🌿

In survival mode, your energy goes toward scanning for threats, hyper-vigilance and just getting through the day.

Your hair loses its shine because nutrients are diverted to your vital organs 🫁

Your face holds onto stress-induced inflammation and cortisol bloating.

Your posture shifts to protect your chest and core.

You genuinely do not have the mental or emotional bandwidth to care about an aesthetic.

When you start focusing on romanticizing your life, dressing up, taking care of your skin, and curating a soft life, you are sending a massive signal to your brain:

“We are safe. We are allowed to thrive, not just survive.”

A regulated nervous system allows your body to rest, digest, and regenerate.

Yes hormones get a little wonky after having a baby, but it shouldn’t be 2 years the way our healthcare system says.

A lot of the issues that we see with hormonal imbalances and deregulated nervous systems is thanks to modern society.

Technology and corporate systems have taken away the “VILLAGE,” or have forced a lot of us to outsource our village and yet it still doesn’t feel like enough…because it is NOT enough.

We talk about the “mental load” this brings without acknowledging that “mental load” is causing physical harm, and slowing down our recovery process.

After studying indigenous tribes around the world, mostly Latin America, the women don’t have these issues because the village is still in tact.

I don’t expect any modern woman to trade in their laptop to live off-grid with an indigenous tribe, but what if we thought about how we can incorporate a similar system while functioning in the modern world?

What are your thoughts on how we can do better for mothers?
