The Law Enforcement Torch Run is Thursday!

The RCPD team will receive the torch from the Pottawatomie County Sheriff's Office at 11:30 a.m. at the Manhattan Sherwin Williams, and then travel to the Ogden Community Center to meet with our Special Olympics athletes.

We will begin our run around 12:40 p.m. — running to the Fort Riley/Ogden gate to pass the torch to the Military Police. Afterwards, we will walk back to the Ogden Community Center for some popsicles at the RCPD Food Trailer.

Everyone is welcome to attend, cheer on the RCPD team at the Ogden Community Center, and enjoy the popsicles! We're excited to see everyone.

What began in the trenches of World War I has grown into one of America’s most beloved food holidays. It was established in 1938 to ensure the legacy of Salvation Army volunteers known as the "Donut Lassies" is never forgotten.

WHEN 🗓️ The sprinkle-covered holiday is celebrated annually on the first Friday of June.

WHY❓In 1917, Salvation Army volunteers known as the “Donut Lassies” traveled to the front lines in France, hand-frying donuts and delivering essential supplies to boost the morale of weary troops.

More than a century later, The Salvation Army remains on the front lines, fighting poverty, homelessness, food insecurity, and addiction alongside vulnerable individuals and families across the United States. Learn more: https://www.salvationarmyusa.org/national-donut-day/

Today marked Day 1 of the Advanced EMT Cohort Program hosted at Pottawatomie County EMS in partnership with WSU Tech EMS Education

This program is made possible through a grant designed to bring EMS education opportunities to rural communities across Kansas.

We are proud to announce that Pottawatomie County EMS is the first agency in Kansas to host an Advanced EMT program funded through this grant. This cohort will provide advanced EMS education for four Pottawatomie County EMS personnel and two Dickinson County EMS personnel.

A special congratulations goes out to our team members taking this next step in their EMS careers: Anne Bruns, Zach Davis, Abby Larson, and Jaclyn Schoening. Your commitment to professional growth and excellence in patient care will have a lasting impact on the communities we serve.

We wish all of the students success as they begin this exciting journey and look forward to seeing their accomplishments throughout the program.
