Today was one of those perfect small-town days in Mankato that reminds you why community matters. Julia Hancock, the heart and soul behind the Jewell County Record, turned the newspaper office into a cozy pop-up haven once again—this time inviting two incredible local talents to share their homemade goodness.

Leroy Bourbon brought his legendary cinnamon rolls, with an amazing frosting, and absolutely irresistible.

Along with LeRoy Bourbon, Julia made space for, Marty File (all the way from Beloit), who spoiled us with an amazing spread: hearty breakfast burritos, rich lasagna, green chili pot pies, steaming chili, and more. But the star of the show for me? Her potato broccoli cheese soup—creamy, flavorful, and downright addictive. A whole quart for just $6!

What Julia is doing with these pop-ups is something special. She’s shining a light on local Mankato and Jewell County businesses, while also reaching out to nearby gems like Marty, all in the spirit of revitalizing our town and lifting up the people who make it great. It’s grassroots efforts like hers that create real connection and keep our community thriving. You can see all of here pop-ups, live on the Jewel County Record page!

If you missed today’s event, I heard Leroy is coming back, next Tuesday from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. at Jewell County Record.

Thank you, Julia, for providing the spark we need and putting in the effort to create these wonderful experiences for businesses and residents alike.

It’s the best way to support the local folks who make it special!
