Scattered strong to severe thunderstorms are possible (20-30%) this evening after 6PM, mainly for northern and western portions of the area. The rest of the work week will be mostly dry and hot, with highs in the 90s to low 100s. Southerly winds may gust to 20-30 MPH each afternoon.

Strong to marginally severe storms are possible during the late evening-overnight hours. The strongest storms will be capable of producing wind gusts around 60mph and quarter sized hail.

Highs today will climb into the upper 80s-100s with storm chances returning during the evening/overnight hours. Some storms could be strong-severe with winds up to 60 MPH and up to quarter size hail. Temps stay warm on Wednesday and Thursday, once again climbing into the upper 80s-100s. Winds also tick up slightly on Wednesday and Thursday with potential for gusts in the 25-30 MPH range.

On August 27, 2026, at approximately 9:45 AM, a deputy with the Jewell County Sheriff's Office observed a vehicle traveling at a radar-checked speed of 104 mph in a posted 65 mph zone on U.S. 36 near Esbon.

Rain showers come to an end this morning, with highs climbing into the upper 80s to upper 90s. Scattered thunderstorms are possible across northwestern portions of the area during the late evening-overnight hours, a few of which may be strong-severe. Tuesday will be partly cloudy during the day with highs in the upper 80s to upper 90s. Heat continues on Wednesday.
