🎉 Summer parties, backyard birthdays, family cookouts, kids running around laughing… some of our sweetest memories are made this time of year. ☀️🍭

This beautiful throwback feature tells the story of Hilda Garcia, creator of Pinatas with Purpose, whose handcrafted pinatas are about so much more than candy and decorations. They’re about family, culture, joy, creativity, and creating moments people will remember forever.

What started with Hilda simply trying to make a birthday party special for her daughters quickly turned into a passion and growing business after she taught herself how to build custom pinatas by watching online tutorials.

Now she creates detailed, artistic pinatas by hand — many so beautiful families don’t even want to break them. Some are even designed to become keepsakes and wall art after the celebration ends.

But underneath the crepe paper and cardboard is an even deeper story about motherhood, identity, heritage, purpose, and helping families slow down long enough to truly enjoy being together. ❤️

As Hilda says in the article, “The pinata time brings everyone together, living in the moment.”

Summer is the perfect season for making memories with the people you love — and this story is such a beautiful reminder that sometimes the smallest traditions become the moments we treasure most.

Martial arts is the perfect way for kids (and adults) to build confidence, discipline, focus, and character — not just stronger punches and kicks. 💥❤️

This inspiring throwback feature shares the story of Jim Fuller, owner of UMAS Karate, whose passion for martial arts has impacted families and students throughout our community for decades.

Inspired as a teenager by legends like Bruce Lee, Jackie Chan, and Chuck Norris, Fuller quickly fell in love with karate and eventually created his own teaching system focused not only on self-defense, but on developing strong character and positive values.

What makes his approach stand out is the heart behind it. Fuller believes martial arts should help students become better people — teaching focus, patience, respect, self-control, discipline, and confidence. Parents often bring children to his program for physical activity, but they leave loving the life lessons their kids gain along the way.

The article also highlights how his family, faith, and love for teaching helped grow UMAS into a lasting part of the Newton County and Conyers communities. ❤️

Summer is such a great season for trying new activities, building confidence, developing healthy habits, and helping kids grow both mentally and physically — and this story is a great reminder that sometimes the biggest lessons happen outside the classroom.

🎨 Artwork has found its home! 🎨

A huge thank you to Sergio for purchasing my a piece of my artwork. As an artist, there’s no greater compliment than knowing your work connects with someone on a personal level.

Sergio shared these beautiful words with me:

“I am very grateful for your time and filled with gratitude that you even considered selling it to me. It will be displayed in my home as a reminder to me and my family of our humble roots and the beauty of life along the way. Truly blessed to own it. 🙏”

Messages like this are why I create. Knowing this piece will serve as a daily reminder of family, hard work, humble beginnings, and the beauty found throughout life’s journey means more than I can express.

Thank you, Sergio, for supporting local art and for giving this piece a place where its story can continue to be told for years to come. I’m truly grateful.
