Red, White & True: Celebrate America 250 by Giving Blood with OBI

June 10, 2026 ─ Stars, stripes and summer are here, and Our Blood Institute is inviting the community to be part of something bigger. Red, White & True is your chance to celebrate America’s 250th by showing up for patients who depend on blood every day.

All successful donors who donate at the Magazine Homecoming Blood Drive on Saturday, June 13, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. will receive a limited-edition Red, White & True T-shirt, featuring a special America 250 Our Blood Institute logo on the front pocket and the iconic Statue of Liberty on the back. Donors will also receive a free ticket to the theme park of their choice, including Frontier City, Hurricane Harbor or Magic Springs Theme and Water Park.

From roller coasters to real impact, this summer is about more than fun. While many are traveling, out of routine or enjoying time off, blood donations often drop, even though the need never does. Every donation helps ensure hospitals have the blood they need for trauma care, cancer treatments, surgeries and emergencies.

“As we celebrate 250 years of our nation, we are reminded that our strength has always come from people showing up for one another,” said Dr. John Armitage, president and CEO of Our Blood Institute. “Blood donors carry that spirit forward every single day.”

Blood donation takes about an hour, but the impact can last a lifetime. Just one donation can help save up to three lives.

Anyone who is healthy and 16 years old* or older can give blood. Donation typically takes only about an hour, and one donation saves up to three lives. Appointments to donate can be made online at obi.org or by calling 877-340-8777. Walk-ins are also welcome.

MANSFIELD - The defending 3A State Champions aren't rebuilding in 2026, they're merely reloading. Even with the loss of ten 2025 seniors, the Tigers are eager to take on the best of the best including the 4A State Champions, the 4A State Runner-Ups, & an Oklahoma State Champion in non-conference play while also playing a tumultuous 3A-1 Conference slate. It'll be a tough run, but actually deafening against stiff competition is what a defending Championship program does.

“During the school day, parents know there is a block of time when their children won’t be on screens, so they may not feel as guilty about kids being on them in the evenings,” said Brittney Schrick, extension associate professor and family life specialist for the University of Arkansas Divisi...
