From BC to Australia with the Canon C400 🎥✈️
I recently wrapped an international documentary shoot for Twisted Scholar, led by the legendary Marty Riemer. As I looked over the itinerary — from Vancouver, BC to four cities across Australia — I made the call to upgrade my camera system. Enter the Canon C400.
I’ve been a longtime fan of the C300 MII (it’s served me well), but this particular project demanded more flexibility, lower light performance, and a system I could trust across tight schedules and changing conditions.
The C400 delivered.
✅ Flexible recording formats that helped us manage hard drive space over two weeks of nonstop shooting
✅ Triple base ISO — a game changer for low-light interviews and timelapses
✅ Solid weather resistance — we got rained on more than once
✅ Lightweight enough for 8 plane rides, carnet paperwork, and a few surprisingly friendly border agents
I’ll be putting together a video soon to break down how this camera performed in real-world production across two continents.

I fell in love with rosé in the South of France. It was great because it was slightly sweet, light and easy to drink. Which is dangerous of course when wine goes down too easy, but this Rosé from Cairdeas in Lake Chelan is the closest to a French Rosé I’ve ever tasted from a US wine maker. Soooooo good. Give it a go, you won’t be disappointed!
