David Burcham
Houston, Texas
David has wanted to be a pilot since he was a toddler pointing at airplanes in the sky. Throughout the years, he never swayed from that goal changing only which aircraft he would fly: private planes, plane ferrying, crop dusting, or stunt pilot.

While David was fighting cancer at the age of four, he took a discovery flight at a local airport and loved taking the controls of the airplane from the right seat. When he turned fourteen, he learned to fly gliders over the summer. He completed the training and hours needed to fly solo as well as earning his B Badge for a 45 minute solo flight from a 3,000 foot tow.
David plans to earn his private pilot certificate and work towards a career in aviation.

From discovery flights at 16 to becoming a standards captain at 23, this is Sara Johnsen's story. ✈️

It started at McAir Aviation in Broomfield, where she learned to fly at the same airport her dad proposed to her mom. Sara didn't just train here; she became a flight instructor, teaching others to pursue their dreams while building her own hours.

Today, she flies PC-12 aircraft in the Northeast and Caribbean for Tradewind Aviation. From that first headset bought online to the captain's seat, Sara proves that with determination and training, anything is possible.

Check out this incredible feature of Sara's pilot journey, a former McAir Aviation student, who was featured in the latest Fall issue of Avination | Official. 🍂👉 https://loom.ly/wd9qN4o

Mitch “Skid Mark” Hammond – ENPWI’s 20th Pilot
Eagles Nest Projects Wisconsin is proud to celebrate another major milestone — welcoming our 20th pilot into the ENPWI family. Mitch Hammond, better known by his callsign “Skid Mark,” recently completed his flight test with near perfection. His skill and precision in the cockpit were on full display as he executed a flawless short-field landing that earned him the approving remark, “that was pretty good,” right on the mark — reconfirming his nickname.
Mitch’s performance in the air was matched by his poise and knowledge during the oral exam, where he demonstrated confidence, professionalism, and technical understanding beyond his years. His achievement reflects the dedication, discipline, and passion that ENPWI strives to inspire in every student aviator.
Outside the cockpit, Mitch continues to soar. A high-achieving student at Westosha Central High School, he maintains a perfect 4.0 GPA while serving as President of the Eagles Nest Projects Wisconsin STEM Aviation Program. In this leadership role, he has been instrumental in promoting aviation education, mentoring peers, and leading by example.
Mitch’s talents extend into entrepreneurship as well — he co-owns and operates Weedless Waters, a small business that showcases his initiative, problem-solving ability, and strong work ethic.
Earlier this year, Mitch earned state-level recognition by placing second in the Wisconsin SkillsUSA Aviation Maintenance competition — the first time his school had ever achieved a podium at the state level. His well-rounded excellence across academics, leadership, business, and aviation makes him not just an outstanding student, but a true ambassador for the next generation of aviators.
Congratulations to Mitch “Skid Mark” Hammond — ENPWI’s 20th pilot — a remarkable young man whose dedication and achievements embody the very spirit of Eagles Nest Projects Wisconsin.
