It is supported by the towns of Duck, Southern Shores, Kitty Hawk, Kill Devil Hills, Nags Head and Manteo, as well as Dare County Government, Dare County Schools, UNC Coastal Studies Institute and College of The Albemarle. The channels, Charter

Spectrum Channels 191 and 198, are operated by the Government Education Access Channels Committee, which is composed of a representative from each participating entity. CURRENT TV operates in the Dare County Administration building where it maintains a well equipped production studio where participating entities record programming for the two channels.

✅ Priority 4 (Visitors): Reentry begins Sunday, Aug. 24 at 5 a.m.
⚠️ Drive slowly—standing water on N.C. Hwy. 12 is saltwater and can damage vehicles. Please give NCDOT crews plenty of room as they continue clearing roads.

OCEAN SWIMMING IS PROHIBITED from Duck to Ocracoke with DOUBLE RED FLAGS posted by Ocean Rescue agencies as distant Hurricane Erin moves away from the coast today. Powerful rip currents and 6 to 10 foot breaking waves in the surf zone keep beach and ocean conditions life-threatening for swimmers and ocean rescue personnel. Exercise extreme caution on the beach and stay out of the ocean!

The North Carolina Department of Transportation gathered this video footage of Hurricane Erin's impacts to N.C. 12 on Hatteras Island. Crews from NCDOT have been working hard today to clear the Outer Banks highway so it can be reopened as soon as possible.

Hurricane Erin is forecast to bring life-threatening impacts to Dare County, including coastal flooding and impassable portions of NC Highway 12.

A State of Emergency has been declared for all areas of Dare County.

A Mandatory Evacuation has been issued for Hatteras Island (Zone A). Zone A includes all of Hatteras Island, including the unincorporated villages of Rodanthe, Waves, Salvo, Avon, Buxton, Frisco, and Hatteras.
