⚠️ A Flood Watch is in effect for much of central, southern, and eastern Utah beginning Thursday afternoon through Saturday night. An influx of tropical moisture will result in widespread heavy rain across the area, leading to an increased threat of flash flooding. Highest risk areas include slot canyons, normally dry washes, slickrock areas, recent burn scars, as well as poor drainage and urban areas. Get ready for the official start of astronomical fall! 🍂 The autumnal equinox for the Northern Hemisphere occurs on Monday, September 22nd, at 12:19 PM MDT.

Think of the equinox as a moment of celestial balance. At that precise time, the Earth's axis is not tilted toward or away from the sun. Instead, the sun's most direct energy is focused squarely on the equator.
☀️🌎 This gives us nearly 12 hours of daylight and 12 hours of darkness.

From this point forward, the Northern Hemisphere will tilt progressively further away from the sun, causing our daylight hours across western Montana and north-central Idaho to grow noticeably shorter until the winter solstice.

New median barriers coming to US-6. 🤝

Starting today, Aug. 15, through December, US-6 will be down to one lane in each direction from Diamond Fork Road to the US-89 junction so crews can install these medians, improve overhead lighting and fix the drainage system.

In addition to this project, we have more safety plans in the works for this highway.

Including…
➡️ Widening US-6 to five lanes from Chicken Hollow to Tie Fork.
➡️ Creating a grade separation of the US-6 and US-89 intersection at Thistle Junction.
➡️ Adding a median barrier near Soldier Summit.
➡️ Improving several intersections along US-6 in the Spring Glen area.

Please plan ahead for the lane closures starting today and spread the word to your folks who need to know. 🤝
