Rickie L. Budde, 71 of Springbrook, passed on Saturday, November 8, 2025, at his home surrounded by his family. Celebration of Life will be Sunday, November 16th, 2025 from 1:00 pm-4:00 pm at Jeronimo’s Bar and Grill in Springbrook, Iowa. Inurnment will be in St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery in Preston at a later date.
Rickie was born October 21, 1954, the son of Vernon and Lavita (Tebbe) Budde. He married Dory Klemme on August 31st, 1974. Rickie "papa" was a long-time businessman. The Corner Stop, Gooselake C-Store & Millenium Ballroom and later, Papa's Pumpkin Patch, which he treasured, bringing many smiles to so many families over the years.
Survivors include his wife, Dory; special daughter, Kathy Kilburg, children, Jesse (the late Theresa) Budde and Megan Hute, Jeremy (Michelle) Budde, Jill Huling, and Jennifer (Travis) Weber; 16 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; his 2 special "littles"; his faithful companion, Alvin; a sister, Connie (Lonnie) Ernst; sisters in-law, Linda Budde, Bev Cook; and numerous extended relatives and friends.
Rickie was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter in-law, Theresa Budde; siblings, Loras Budde, Roger (Linda) Budde, and Dean Budde.

WATER SHUT DOWN NOTICE:

Friday, November 7, 2025 the water will be shutdown to make connections to the new water main being installed for the Briggs School expansion. Shutdown will begin at 1:30pm and is expected to last approximately 4 hours.

This shut down will affect following areas:
100, 200, and 300 blocks of North Decker
300 and 400 blocks of West Quarry
300 block of West James

BOIL ADVISORY
Because of the potential for bacteria or other contamination, it is recommended residents either boil water or use bottled water for drinking or cooking. Bring water to a boil for one minute and let cool before using. Tap water may be used for bathing and other similar purposes during this time.

It is anticipated the advisory will be lifted 48 hours after the water has been restored. It will be announced when the boil order is lifted on KMAQ radio and on Facebook.
