Buckle up this is a long one. Here are the results after gathering all the yield data across 2 states and 3 different bean species and a few thousand acres.
- Kidney Bean high yield = 4571lbs per acre
- Black Bean high yield = 5170lbs per acre
- Soybean high yield in IL = 122 bu/ac
- Soybean high yield in WI = 82 bu/ac
- 2 fields were split with a conventional late model planter outfitted with PP technology
Field 1 - 15 bu better with new planter
Field 2 - 12 bu better with new planter (conventional side was strip tilled with fertility, new planter side was only high speed disc with no added fertility.
On average we had a 15-20% increase across the three crops.
Next year will be full of improvements and more trials. Now we have a starting point to go off of. Improvements will be made to the planter and process. One thing is a fact, changeu the environment the seed goes into and change the plant and outcome. We were expecting some higher yields but were ultimately left with a bank of knowledge and many more questions.
We want to thank everyone who for following along with us, it has been fun and we have learned a lot.
These planters are not for sale, you are watching 4 guys that are passionate about agriculture and passionate about improving and getting better. Hopefully you enjoy the information and the journey. Thanks for tuning in!
