Here's a list of our full coverage of the issue since last spring--no paywalls--it's all free. The meeting is Tuesday, 6 p.m., in the Casner Room at City Hall. Also on the agenda is a closed session with a city administrator candidate and possible acquisition of a K-9 unit for the Marfa Police Department....more on those issues soon.

On view today at Chinati's Open Housee.

In this remote Far West Texas town, where the high desert meets the intellectual rigor of art, the Chinati Foundation stands as a monument to permanence and stark geometry. It is a place dedicated to Donald Judd’s vision: objects that exist in dialogue with space, light, and time. For this year’...

UPDATE below. It finally happened. County Judge Joe Portillo replaces David Beebe on the Commissioners Court after Beebe's inadvertent resignation. This sets the state for an event more intense matchup between Beebe and Portillo in the March Democratic Primary for county judge.

UPDATE: Apologies to Mr. Knight. Someone impersonating him via text stated their unavailability for comment. The story has been updated with comments from Knight this morning, and the article includes a correction. To be frank. We were pranked.

Last weekend, County Judge Joe Portillo said he was interviewing a handful of people to replace Precinct 4 County Commissioner David Beebe—who inadvertently resigned after announcing his candidacy too early for county judge for the Democratic Party Primary in March, likely against Portillo. The ju...

And finally, there a brief mention of "Update on tax note," which may or may not get into the legality of Marfa's approved tax rate this year.

The meeting is Tuesday at 6 p.m. in the Casner Room at City Hall. We'll put the link to the full agenda in the comments.

Background on the history of the bull barn that became Ballroom Marfa's "Bullroom." And Snappy the cat.

A grimace. In death. It was a cold, gray day in Marfa as I sat inside Presidio County’s bull barn, planted on a hard wide plank on the bottom row of bleachers that surrounded an auction pen on three sides. A deep dim surrounded me, save a beam of daylight shooting through a door I […]
