BREAKING NEWS:

NIGERIA 🇳🇬 GEO-POLITICAL ZONE BILL 2026

[1] As of October 1 2026, Nigeria’s six geo-political zones will become official and constitutional organs of government. This means that there will be four tiers of administration in Nigeria - Federal, Zonal, State, and Local governments

[2] Nigeria will have six geo-political zones, with each being made up of seven states. Our constitution will prohibit the creation of any more states after these 42

[3] As part of this restructure, we will abolish the federal allocation regime and replace it with resource control under which states will remain the federating units. Revenue distribution will be as follows - States: 50%; Federation account: 20%; Geo-political zones: 15%; National trust fund: 15%. We shall gradually migrate towards this to achieve our targeted goal by 2040

[4] Geopolitical zones will be responsible for maintaining regional police forces to augment the activities of the Nigerian Police Force

[5] Each geopolitical zone will be constitutionally obliged to generate, distribute, and transmit electricity within its domain

[6] Every year, the chairman of the geopolitical zone will rotate among the six governors within it. A chief executive will be appointed to manage what will be a civil service structure

[7] Ultimate authority for the governing of each geo-political zone rests with the committee of governors. There will also be committees of commissioners to deal with matters such as education, health, housing, transport, security, etc

OPEN LETTER THE INCOMING GOVERNOR OF OGUN STATE Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, FCA

This article has nothing to do with any other political alliance or alignment of anyone. My points are based on my personal opinion and personal interactions with Yayi and my strong believe in His ideology and a sure faith that he is goi5 to win this governorship Election.

The incoming Ogun State governor should focus on consolidating critical megaprojects, decentralising infrastructure, and driving grassroots wealth creation to sustain the state's status as Nigeria's top industrial hub.

As the state gears up for its political transition, policy analysts, opposition blueprints, and the progressive framework of the Ogun State Government highlight several vital developmental goals:

Consolidate Major Maritime and Trade Megaprojects

Revive OKLNG: Capitalise on NNPC's commitment to reactivate the dormant multi-billion-dollar Olokola Liquefied Natural Gas (OKLNG) project. To create Job opportunities for the youths as I know you to be a youth friendly person.

Deep Sea Port: Finalise the structural and regulatory layout for the proposed Ogun Deep Sea Port to build Africa's next major maritime logistics hub.

Aviation Ecosystem: Expand commercial cargo operations around the newly built Gateway International Airport to optimize regional export chains.

2. Decentralise and Rehabilitate Critical Roads
Fix Border Corridors: Partner with federal authorities to heavily rehabilitate deteriorated arterial routes, specifically targeting the Abeokuta–Sango-Ota–Tollgate axis. I think this is something you should look into critically and tagged "state of emergency on Ogun roads" sir, the former Governordidn't do well on road projects at all!

Agrarian Access: Focus on rural road networks to connect massive agricultural zones in Yewa and Ogun West directly to commercial markets.

Industrial Parks: Upgrade intra-city transit networks feeding the congested manufacturing zones of Agbara, Ota, and Sagamu.

Advance Food Security and Large-Scale Agribusiness
Scale Dairy Value Chains: Fully back large-scale private sector investments, such as the $250 million Pure Dairy Herds initiative in Ogun West, to boost local production.

Agro-Processing Smallholdings: Provide mechanised tools, fertiliser distribution networks, and dry-season farming subsidies directly to grassroots farmers.

Enhance Human Capital and Tech-Driven Employment

Job-Aligned Education: Re-engineer vocational and technical colleges to feed directly into nearby manufacturing hubs and tech firms.

Digital Innovation: Broaden the reach of the Ogun TechHub to upskill rural youths and reduce urban-rural economic disparity.

Health Supply Security: Maximise the output of the state’s newly commissioned, world-class Pharma-Grade Warehouse to guarantee reliable, uninterrupted medicine supply across all 20 Local Government Areas (LGAs).

5. Reform Local Governance and Public Finance
Restore LGA Autonomy: Deliver full political and financial autonomy to local councils to fast-track grassroots development and respond quicker to regional issues.

Digitise Public Finance: Implement performance-based digital budgeting tools to eliminate revenue leakages and multiple taxation burdens on businesses.

Tech-Driven Border Security: Deploy advanced surveillance drones and modern patrol vehicles along sensitive international border lines to safeguard cross-border commerce and for security purposes.
