I Just watched the new Film “Black Creek” and loved every minute. 🤠

My friend Cynthia Rothrock , co-wrote, and stars in it, and I’ve also had the honor of photographing her and Don “The Dragon” Wilson—so seeing them tear it up on screen was a real treat.

Gritty western vibes, powerful martial arts mixed with Western action, gorgeous cinematography, and strong performances all around. Independent filmmaking at its best. 👏 ❤️👍👍

Repost from a shoot with by shot

“Lately I’ve been reflecting… not out of sadness, but out of gratitude”. 🖤

Sometimes you look back just to reconnect with the parts of your life that brought you good vibes, drive, confidence, and a whole lot of amazing memories.

(This photoshoot with was one of my favorites sponsored by !)

I look back because sometimes the past holds pieces of you the present forgets — and I really loved who I was and the life I lived.

And honestly? I’m ready to bring some of THAT MELINA back — the energy, the freedom, the passion, the self-belief.

Here’s to honoring the past while stepping into an even better future. 🖤

Xoxo 💋 Melina

Honored to photograph Kevin Costner and costume designer Lisa Lovaas for the Winter 2026 cover of The Costume Designer.
Grateful to the and for inviting me to help spotlight the artists who build the visual world of a film.

Big news! ❄️ The Winter 2026 issue of The Costume Designer is now available online, highlighting standout work from our CDG community.

This issue’s cover features CDG member and costume designer Lisa Lovaas with Kevin Costner for Horizon: An American Saga, Chapter 2. Lovaas approached the film’s 120-plus speaking roles with a comprehensive book of costume concepts, drawing from extensive historical research and her own family archives. A photo of her grandfather, a doctor on a Navajo reservation in the 1920s, became a key reference image that helped shape the film’s visual world.

Explore the full story and more in the Winter 2026 issue.

Thankful to have shot this March 1997 cover for Magazine back in their heyday.
For all you millennials…. This is shot before photoshop could just drop a background in to any shot in seconds. Instead this is a painted huge canvas and sand I personally had to get to create the beach hauling in the sand myself to guarantee we actually had a controlled situation for the shoot.
Everyone always thinks here in sunny Southern California every sunset at the beach is warm and beautiful when in reality a lot are fogged in and cold.
This is also shot on film as everything was. So you had to develop it to see your results and no room for lighting or other errors.
Thanks to the great team starting with the gorgeous and the talented art director and the extraordinary hair & makeup by Shot by photographer 💪❤️🙏

Last night I had the honor of photographing legendary designer Bob Mackie at the red carpet screening of his new documentary “Naked Illusion” — a special event hosted by the Costume Designers Guild (CDG). ✨

Years ago, I had the privilege of photographing Bob for a CDG Magazine cover, so seeing him again felt like a full-circle moment. Beyond his brilliance as a designer, he’s one of the kindest and most generous people I’ve had the chance to work with.

Bob’s creations have shaped the very idea of glamour — from Cher’s dazzling gowns to Elton John’s unforgettable stage costumes, Diana Ross’s timeless elegance, and Carol Burnett’s iconic comedy looks. His artistry has inspired generations, and being behind the camera for him again was truly special.

What a privilege to capture an icon — then and now.

I was honored to do this fabulous shoot for the
Repost; We were delighted to partner with Bentley Motors for the 27th Costume Designers Guild Awards. The celebration begins the moment you step into your vehicle, and the Bentley Bentayga was the perfect choice. An ultimate go-anywhere SUV with bespoke expression woven into both their DNA and ours.

The 27th CDGA Presenters Colman Domingo, Honoree Janelle Monáe, and presenters John Waters and Mindy Kaling arriving in style.

Fantasy Alien shoot done in the 90’s shot of course on film as everything was. The body painting was slow process that took 1/2 day which called for perfection as there was no such thing as Photoshop or “we’ll fix it in post”
We fixed it at the shoot or lived with our mistakes as retouching called for an expensive print and an artist literally retouch with paints and then a scan of the painted print. Slow and expensive!
This is one of my favorite All time shoots ( okay I have a lot of favorites like saying who’s your favorite kid! ) with the incredible and some of the best physiques and posers of the day. The body painting took 1/2 the day and then the Magic began. Shot by

: 1997 - Here’s a fun repost from with one of countless covers and layouts we did together. I remember hauling all of of this sand to my previous studio. This was back in the day when I use to rent huge painted scenic backdrops to ensure good lighting as everyone thinks it is always warm & sunny in Southern California, but those of us who live here and shoot on the beach no otherwise
Below is quoted from Sharon ‘s Post of the rest of the back story;
These were a HUGE surprise to me !Huge Love and thankyou to the Art Director of FLEX Magazine, Martin Withrow (90s), who pitched the cover templates to Joe Weider for Muscle & Fitness. Turned out Joe loved them both - they couldn’t decide on which to publish so ~ I was blessed with both! Of course the A.D. for Muscle & Fitness was NOT happy so, once again - due to “his” call, I did not receive an inside feature as he was pi**ed! 😂.

The cover/image with Arne List originally had two men (can’t remember who the other guy was) but, Joe felt it looked better with just one so, the art dept kept Arne and shopped out the other. Problem ~ the original photo had the other guy’s leg overlapping Arne’s back leg (bent behind me) and when they removed the guy - Arne had no leg - so they took the other guys leg, flipped it and shopped it so Arne had another leg. If you notice the leg is lighter in color! 😂
The covers came out at the same time (split so half the U.S. received the solo and the other half received the “couples” and, both were published across the globe).
