In Genesis 19, we find the story of Lot's family escaping S***m before the angels destroy the city.

They told Lot to gather his family together, because they were going to destroy the city. Lot pleaded with his sons in law who had married some of his daughters to go with them, but they would not listen.

In the morning, Lot, his wife, and 2 daughters were led out of the town by the angels and told, "Escape for they life; look not behind thee."

Lot's family had just been saved from that place. All they needed to do was look forward and trust God.

But Lot's wife turned back.

The Bible doesn’t say why, but we know that she had daughters there who didn’t' leave, along with their husbands. Possibly even some grandchildren, but the Bible doesn't say. I am sure she was grieving them, and the fact that she was having to leave her home and life behind.

But, instead of trusting God, she turned around and was turned into a pillar of salt.

I've heard this story many times, but when I read it this morning, one thing stuck out to me. She was more focused on her past than what the angels told her to do.

Every time you dwell on the past, you end up stuck. Sometimes, to the point where you can't function in the present. I can tell you this from personal experience!

Don't focus on your past. Learn from it, repent of it (if need be), and move forward!

When you trust God, spend time in His Word, and spend time with Him, you can move forward with peace.

Genesis 18:14a- "Is anything too hard for the Lord?"

I've read this quote in a couple different places today and I just love it.

"He already knows, and He still listens."

You know how someone may tell us a story or joke we've heard before or send us a meme we've already seen? Most times we will say "oh I've heard/seen that already." God isn't like that. He's listening to every prayer, every cry, every story, EVERY SINGLE TIME. ❤️

Psalms 42:1-4 (KJV)
As the hart panteth after the water brooks, So panteth my soul after thee, O God. My soul thirsteth for God, for the living God: When shall I come and appear before God? My tears have been my meat day and night, While they continually say unto me, Where is thy God?

What I wish I knew when my niece turned 5!

At 5 years old, she left the toddler nursery behind and started sitting in church with my family. We had a bag of stuff to keep her occupied: coloring books, crayons, stickers, snacks, and even little toys. The problem with that is she now had choices and alllll of those things were used. 🤪 At this point, my mom hadn’t had a 5 year old in church with her in probably15 years, and I have no children of my own, so I had never had a 5 year old in church. But I had seen other parents with things to keep their kids busy, so we just did the same thing.

We, of course, realized this was not the way to go!l It became distracting for us and others around us (no matter how cute she was, lol). Eventually, she was limited to one coloring book or notebook, and only a couple of crayons or a pen.

As she began to learn to read and write, she became more interested in taking notes with us. She would copy off my paper or my mom’s paper. Now, she is using the PDF printable version of the children’s church notes notebook. (These are on my Etsy: Detail of Hope). She is so excited to fill it out in every service. My mom told me recently that she forgot to grab a paper for her before a service, and Bella was so upset about it. Thankfully, they had time to grab it during the handshaking portion of the service, and Bella was still able to take notes during the service. Phew! That was close! Lol 🤭

I wish we had had something like this for Bella when she was 5 and just starting to sit in church. We don’t need something to distract, occupy, or entertain our kids! We need something to help them learn! And what better way to help them learn than to teach them how to listen and write down what speaks to them?!

If you have been looking for something like this for any of the children in your life, you can find them at on my Amazon! Or if you would rather have the PDF version, check out my Etsy! 🤗

Today, I'm sharing my why….why I am so passionate about children learning to take notes in church.

I’ve been taking notes in church since I was at least 12 years old, possibly earlier. I remember as a teenager being required to take notes during special revival or conference services (home work for our school’s Bible class). However, my notes only consisted of writing down the Bible verse references. I wasn’t retaining very much from the church services because I had never been taught how to take notes. Eventually, I would write down “points” in sermons, but only when they Preacher specifically said “point 1, point 2” etc.
As I grew older and continued taking notes, I eventually wrote things down that weren’t always pointed out as an important point. I am not telling you this to bash my parents, teachers, or leaders in any way. I only want to point out the importance of teaching this to children.

I am so passionate about teaching this to children because I want children to learn and retain more than I did. I truly believe teaching them how to take notes in church is the best place to start. Teaching them young only ensures that they will learn even more from the preaching.

How can we help our children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews, or ministry kids? By teaching them WHY it’s important. If you aren’t taking notes yourself, start now! The best way to teach is by doing! It's hard to convince someone that something is good for you if you aren't doing it.

Get them a notebook! I have some super cute ones in my Amazon store! You can check them out at the link in my bio. They aren't just lined pages. They have prompts like "What's your favorite song from church today?" There's a place for notes from the service and even for prayer requests and announcements. They are perfect for keeping kids engaged during the church service.

Hey, friends!

I just wanted to reintroduce myself as I am entering an exciting (and occasionally scary) new season of life! I started a business in February called Detail of Hope!

So without further ado…here are a few things about me (that you may or may not already know!)

1. My name is Bethany Hope, I just go by Bethany or Beth. But my Uncle Frank calls me Bethany Hope every time we talk because I introduced myself to him at the age of like 3 by saying “Hi! I’m Bethany Hope.”

2. My business and ministry is called Detail of Hope. Detail of Hope was started in February with the goal of providing KJV products for Christian families and
ministries.

3. I go to a small Baptist church here in southern IL, where I am blessed to be able to serve in the choir, special music, and kid’s ministries.

4. I have a heart for kids and have loved being involved with kid’s ministries in every church I have served at through the years.

5. Right now, I have 2 different children’s church notebooks in my Amazon store and the pdf printable versions on Etsy. The links to both stores are in my bio, along with a link to a freebie just for YOU!

Please tag some friends or share this post with friends who might be interested. And don't forget to follow so you don't miss out on anything amazing that might happen this week 🤭😉
