Jury Convicts Muncie Woman of Murder in Delaware County

MUNCIE, Ind. — A Delaware County jury has found Shannon R. Miller, 33, guilty of murder and multiple felony charges following a trial that began on November 30, 2025. The verdict was reached Thursday after jurors deliberated for just over an hour.

Miller, born October 29, 1992, was convicted on three counts:
• Count 1: Murder, a felony
• Count 2: Robbery Resulting in Serious Bodily Injury, a Level 2 felony
• Count 3: Conspiracy to Commit Robbery Resulting in Serious Bodily Injury, a Level 2 felony

According to the Prosecutor’s Office, the case centered around a violent robbery that resulted in the victim’s fatal injuries. An affidavit of probable cause filed earlier in the investigation outlined Miller’s alleged role in planning and participating in the crime.

Sentencing is scheduled for December 29, 2025, at 1:30 p.m. before Judge Judi L. Calhoun of Delaware Circuit Court No. 1.

Under Indiana law, a murder conviction carries a sentence of 45 to 65 years in prison and up to a $10,000 fine. A Level 2 felony is punishable by 10 to 30 years and up to $10,000 in fines.

Delaware County Prosecuting Attorney Eric M. Hoffman issued a statement following the jury’s decision:

“A Delaware County Jury has taken another violent felon off the streets. People who commit these violent acts must be held accountable.”

Hoffman also commended the work of Chief Deputy Prosecutor Zach Craig, Deputy Prosecutor Maricel Driscoll, Investigator Heather Stanley, Muncie Police Detective Matthew Berger, and Victim Advocate Andrea Johnson for their dedication throughout the case.

Miller’s booking photo was released by the Prosecutor’s Office following the conviction.

16-year-old arrested after Marion shooting injures juvenile passenger

MARION, Ind. — Marion Police are investigating a Saturday evening shooting that left a juvenile male with a gunshot wound to the back of the head and led to the arrest of a 16-year-old on an attempted murder charge.

According to the Marion Police Department, around 5:39 p.m. on November 29, 2025, a juvenile male arrived at Marion Health with a single gunshot wound to the back of his head. Officers say the bullet was lodged in his skull just under the skin, and the injury is considered non-life-threatening.

The victim told police he was riding in a car near the intersection of 2nd and Hill Street in Marion when he heard gunshots in the area. Moments later, the car’s window shattered and he felt something strike his head. He told the driver that he had been shot.

Due to poor road conditions, the driver initially couldn’t get the vehicle moving, police said. The driver reportedly got out of the car and fired shots in the direction from which the original gunfire came, then drove the wounded juvenile to Marion Health. The victim was later transferred to a Fort Wayne hospital for further treatment.

Officers responding to the area of 2nd and Hill located a handgun hidden near a house. They then followed fresh tracks in the snow to a residence at 634 W. 2nd Street in Marion, where they found two juvenile males. Both were taken to the police station for questioning as detectives obtained a search warrant for the home.

Following the investigation, police arrested a 16-year-old male on a preliminary charge of Attempted Murder. The teen was transported to another county for incarceration. Police did not release the names of any juveniles involved.

Authorities emphasize that a charge is merely an accusation and the juvenile is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.

Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to contact MPD Detective Captain Josh Zigler at (765) 662-9981 or [email protected], send a message to the Marion Police Department page, or contact Grant County Crime Stoppers at (765) 662-8477 or online at www.p3tips.com/339
