Our CEO Ed Bounds has officially filed a tort claim against Megan Glickfield/Grant County Commissioners and Grant County.

ED BOUNDS FILES NOTICE OF TORT CLAIM AGAINST GRANT COUNTY

MARION, INDIANA — Today, I filed a Notice of Tort Claim concerning Grant County, the Grant County Commissioners, and county employee Megan Glickfield. This filing is a formal step toward protecting my legal rights and holding those responsible accountable.

On September 2, 2026, during a public meeting of the Grant County Commissioners, a statement was read alleging that I offered to pay as much as $10,000 to obtain incriminating evidence against Glickfield. I completely deny making that offer or authorizing anyone else to make it on my behalf.

I believe this allegation is false and has subjected me to public humiliation while damaging my personal and professional reputation. I will not remain silent when statements I believe to be untrue are publicly used against me.

I have consistently stood up for the people of Grant County. Today, I am standing up for myself against what I believe is unfair treatment, abuse of governmental power, and a culture that allows individuals to be publicly attacked without adequate evidence or a fair opportunity to respond.

The filing of this notice does not itself begin a lawsuit. It preserves my right to pursue legal action and seek compensation for the harm I believe was caused to my reputation.

I intend to follow the legal process and allow the evidence and facts to speak for themselves.

Neighborhood Fresh Announces Closure of Gas City Location

GAS CITY, Ind. — After more than four decades of serving the Gas City community, Neighborhood Fresh has announced that its Gas City grocery store will be closing.

The company announced the decision Tuesday on its page, describing the closure as a difficult one and thanking customers, employees and the community for their support over the years.

Neighborhood Fresh said it has been proud to serve Gas City for more than 40 years, calling its time in the community “both a privilege and an honor.”

The store did not provide a specific closing date in the announcement. Neighborhood Fresh said it will continue serving customers during the transition and will provide additional information through its page regarding the closing and special closeout savings.

The announcement quickly drew reaction from area residents, with several expressing disappointment over the loss of the longtime Gas City grocery store.

One Dead, Two Firefighters Injured in Marion Apartment Fire

MARION, Ind. — One person is dead and two Marion firefighters sustained minor injuries following a structure fire Friday afternoon in the 3600 block of South Prince Hall Drive.

According to a press release from the City of Marion Fire Department, crews were dispatched at approximately 12:40 p.m. Friday, August 28, after receiving a report of a structure fire with a possible occupant trapped inside.

Marion Health Hospital EMS arrived before firefighters and reported smoke coming from the front of the two-story multifamily residence. Multiple rescue attempts were made before the fire department arrived, but heavy smoke and extreme heat prevented rescuers from reaching the trapped individual.

Marion firefighters entered the burning building, located the victim and removed the individual from the residence. First responders immediately began medical treatment, and Marion Health Hospital EMS requested a medical helicopter to assist.

Despite continued resuscitation efforts, the victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

During search-and-rescue operations, two Marion firefighters suffered minor injuries and received medical evaluation and treatment.

The fire was extinguished and brought under control. The Grant County Coroner responded to the scene.

The Marion Fire Department Investigation Unit, working with the Indiana State Fire Marshal’s Office, is investigating the origin and cause of the fire. Officials have not announced a cause at this time.

The identity of the deceased is being withheld pending positive identification and notification of next of kin.

Marion Police Department, Grant County EMS, Marion Health Hospital EMS and the Indiana State Fire Marshal’s Office assisted at the scene.

MARION WOMAN DIES FOLLOWING FIRE AT PRINCE HALL APARTMENTS

MARION, Ind. — A Marion woman has died following a fire at Prince Hall Apartments Friday afternoon.

The Marion Fire Department was dispatched to the apartment complex earlier this afternoon. Firefighters located a woman inside who was unresponsive. She was later pronounced dead.

Witnesses told Marion Source News they believe an oxygen tank may have played a major role in the fire. That information has not yet been officially confirmed, and the cause of the fire remains under investigation.

The woman’s identity has not yet been released.
