We've updated our story on the federal RICO lawsuit involving the former Judson College campus to include the complaint itself and all five of its original exhibits. Readers can now see the primary documents our reporting is based on.

Every factual claim in our coverage is sourced from the federal complaint, exhibits filed with that complaint, filings with the Alabama Secretary of State, filings with the Alabama Ethics Commission, filings with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, resolutions passed by the Marion City Council and the Perry County Commission, and public records from the Perry County Probate Office.

The federal court documents and exhibits, including economic development agreements with the State of Alabama, are linked in the story. Readers can read them and draw their own conclusions.

We have held back information we could not confirm. We have given every party named in our reporting the opportunity to respond to specific questions. We will update the story if any of them does. Our job is to report what the public record shows, accurately, with attribution. That is what we have done and what we will continue to do.

Market Street Jazz Band to Perform at Greensboro Opera House
The Greensboro Opera House will open its 2025-26 Season with a performance on Sunday, September 28th at 3:00 by the Market Street Jazz Band of Demopolis. Performing in “the best of New Orleans style” with hits from the 1920s and classic Dixieland, the Band promises to provide “a rip-roarin’ good time.” Responses to an earlier performance by the Band at the Opera House were enthusiastic with some members of the audience commenting that upon emerging from the Opera House afterwards, they felt they should be stepping out into New Orleans itself. Admission will be free of charge, though donations are welcome, and a reception will follow.
This performance will be followed at 3:00 Sunday, October 26th by a concert by renowned pianist, Dr. Edisher Savitski, who has performed both nationally and internationally and is now a professor at the University of Alabama. This performance will be sponsored by the Greensboro Music Study Club in celebration of the 100th anniversary of its joining the National Federation of Music Clubs.
On Sunday December 7th, the Opera House will again host its very popular “Celebration of Christmas” featuring choirs and performers from throughout the community.
In 2026, the Opera House will present “Twice Told Tales,” a series of dramatic events spotlighting the art of storytelling. This will kickoff with a two-day storytelling workshop, in January, to be followed in the spring by a “storytelling” play, and culminating in the late summer with an original locally written, locally produced, and locally presented comedic, farcical dramatization of stories from the community’s own past.
An art show by local artist, Ian Crawford, is scheduled for February, and other events for the season will be announced as their scheduling is finalized.
All are invited to join in the fun and entertainment at the Greensboro Opera House as its 2025-2026 Season unfolds!
