✨👩🏽💔 THE MURDER OF ROMECA MEEKS — CHICAGO, ILLINOIS — SEPTEMBER 8, 2025 💔👩🏽✨

⏰ Today, Monday morning, just after 9 a.m. in Chicago’s South Loop, 31-year-old Romeca Meeks was doing what mothers do — dropping her son off at school. Minutes later, she was lying in the street with a fatal gunshot wound to the face.

👀 According to reports, Romeca ran into her child’s father and another woman — the other mother of his child. Tension erupted. Words flew. Fists flew. And then came the gun.

🔫 Police say the altercation turned deadly when the other woman pulled a weapon, firing into Romeca’s face in broad daylight on the 2200 block of South State Street.

🚑 Romeca was rushed to Stroger Hospital, but doctors could not save her. She was pronounced dead soon after.

💔 A mother. A daughter. A woman whose life was snatched in front of the world over an argument that should never have ended in gunfire.

❓How did a school drop-off turn into a murder scene? Why is gun violence the first response in our communities? And how many more children will grow up motherless because of senseless rage?
