This is the kind of news that stops the world. All 27 girls missing in the July 4 flood at Camp Mystic in Kerr County, Texas, are now confirmed dead. Early this morning, rescue crews found the last of the bodies in the Guadalupe River. The hope that families had held on to has now been dashed. Across Texas, more than 132 people have died in one of the worst disasters the state has ever seen. Grief is everywhere. But amid the sadness, one voice has emerged — not from a stage, but from the heart.
Shaquille O’Neal and his assistant hosted a benefit event in the Hill Country to raise money for victims of the devastating floods. The pain is still there, but in these difficult times, compassion has become a balm, a source of hope and unity. Join us in helping those in need, proving that through kindness and solidarity, we can overcome the darkness and find strength in each other. Shaquille O’Neal enlisted his assistant to help craft a raw, emotional message that felt like it was spoken through tears. It’s not perfect, but it’s real. And for many, it’s the only thing that can say what no one else can.
