Heavy police presence at Mike's Car Wash on Live Oak Street in Marlin, Texas. A male individual suffered a self-inflicted gunshot wound and was medevaced to a local hospital. There are no further details at this time.

Tonight, Marlin ISD presented plaques and recognition to the MISD Board of Managers, along with others individuals that have made a significant contribution to Marlin ISD. The plaques will be displayed at the new Marlin High School and the new Legion Football Field.

The new press box at Legion Field will be named the Dr. Darryl Henson Press Box.

The Multi Athletic Complex will be named the Rockney "Rocky" Terry Athletic Complex.

The entrance at Legion Field will be named the Billy Johnson, Danny Vickers, and Bryleen Terry Entrance.

The new high school basketball court will be named the Leo Green Court.

Mayor Susan Byrd reached out to me with an urgent request for our community:

The water towers are still NOT full, and multiple leaks have been discovered, just as expected.
If we don’t act NOW to conserve, we may be without water again.

Stage 5 Water Conservation is in effect, and we MUST take it seriously. That means:

• No outdoor watering

• No car washing

• No excessive water use of ANY kind

***Use water only for essential needs***

Violations may result in fines, as city personnel are monitoring usage.

We have some cases of water left to hand out today, Sunday May 11th. We will be going till 7pm this evening with showers and laundry. Also, we will be serving meals again this evening starting , till we run out!

Community Update: Water Plant Progress 5/10/2025 10:14 PM

Hello Marlin,

I reached out to Mayor Susan Byrd to get an update on the status of the portable water treatment plants, and I wanted to pass the information along to you all.

Here’s what she shared:

• Everything at the portable water plant has been assembled.

• Right now, we’re in a waiting period: the glue used to seal the pipes needs 24 hours to cure before the system can be chlorinated.

• After that, there will be another 24-hour period for hyperchlorination.

• So, if all goes as planned, the earliest we’ll begin pumping from the portable plant is Monday, May, 12, 2025.

The good news is that our main water plant is still running, and the water towers are filling up, which helps keep us stable while we wait on the portable system to come online.

FBC Marlin, TX will be serving chicken fajita meals to the Marlin community beginning at 4 PM today until all 250 meals are gone. They are also giving away drinking water.

🚨 Marlin Community Update: 5/9/2025

The second portable water treatment plant has arrived on site.

The setup process will take some time before the portable plant begins to produce water. In the meantime, the City's plant is producing water in to town.

• It will take approximately 12 hours to connect the portable units.
