Can’t make a week? No problem.
We maintain an approved substitute list. Our member subs are listed first, followed by other players who have been approved to play in our leagues.

HOW WE PLAY
We follow NMJL rules along with a few OK Mahj Society house league policies:
1. Dealer Deals
The dealer deals the tiles.
2. Dead Hands
Yes, we call hands dead. A player at the table may call a hand dead, or you can call one of us over to verify it. NMJL dead-hand rules will be provided at every table.
3. Player Rotation
Players rotate throughout the league so you aren’t playing with the same group every week.
4. New to League? Come On!
Beginners are welcome.
During your first two weeks, we can provide assistance during play when needed. If you receive assistance, you will receive 50% of your points for that night.
During those first two weeks, beginner league players may also attend Coffee + Strategy for $20 to help get ready for league play.
5. Door Prize Tickets
You can earn tickets each week:
• 1 for attending
• 1 for Mahjong
• 1 for a Bird Bam Cheers!
• Weekly opportunities for high-table-point tickets
6. Weekly Charms
Every player receives a charm for the league. Each week, the player with the highest points from the previous week receives the Charm of the Week.
7. Standings
NEW THIS LEAGUE! Your standings and points will be posted in our Slack app so you can follow the leaderboard throughout all six weeks.

🏆 SCORING
Base score: Point value of the completed line on the NMJL card
BONUS POINTS
• Draw your own Mahjong: +10
• Jokerless hand, when applicable: +20
• Heavenly Hand: +25
• Earthly Hand: +15
DOUBLES
If the dealer rolls doubles, the point value of your completed line is doubled.
A wall game is also doubled.
LOSS OF POINTS
If you discard the tile that another player picks up for Mahjong:
• Player had 1 exposure: –10
• Player had 2 exposures: –15
• Player had 3 exposures: –20
