- Big News from Chicago Beefs Marquette -
Hey everyone, Mike here with an important update. After meeting with my landlords this morning, the decision has been made to close Chicago Beefs Marquette.
This isn’t a joke... and it’s not an early April Fool’s prank. The reality is that this location comes with significant challenges... and while I love a good challenge, I’m behind on rent and struggling to cover late payroll, with nothing but hurdles in front of us.
The good news is that I just picked up a fresh load of beef two days ago and it’s going to bring in enough money to cover payroll and pay our bread and cheese suppliers. After that, we’ll be closed until the next location is ready to open.
I’ve been presented with some incredible opportunities for prime locations in the area... and once the next deal is inked, I’ll share all the details.
If you have coupons or gift certificates, please bring them in. We’ll honor all of them, even if they have the Houghton address on them. I don’t care if they’re expired either... someone spent money on them, and that value never disappears at my restaurant.
The hardest part of all this is having to let my team go. 😢 I’ve already spoken to each of them so they know their jobs will be ending suddenly next week. That’s the part that really stings... I really, really love my team. And we had just gotten the new members trained and fully capable of opening, closing and running things solo... and now this.
But I’m confident that between the new restaurant locations and other income opportunities I have on the table, this is the best move for me to get ahead financially and to finally be able pay back the incredible people who loaned me money years ago to open the Houghton location and keep it running. Incredible friends, and even some complete strangers who believed in me and helped me when I needed it most.
I’ve put some of my dearest friends in tough positions because I haven’t been able to repay them, but they know I'm not exactly swimming in money over here. I'm broke, bankrupt, deep in debt, credit score in the toilet, and been homeless since moving to Marquette.
But I am a man of my word. I will get back on my feet and I will pay everybody back. Every cent. Plus interest. And then some.
