STATE GOLF UPDATE……

After the first round of the Missouri Class 3 State Golf Tournament at Twin Hills Country Club in Joplin, one Marshall High School player is in good position to medal, with another currently sitting in the top half.

According to info on the MSHSAA Golf App, MHS senior Breanna Mach shot a 19-over-par 91 on the opening 18-hole round and is in a 7-way tie for 14th.

Lady Owl sophomore Melanie Durham sits in a 6-way tie for 35th after firing a 97.

Junior Brylee Christy shot a 112, and is in 74th place.

In all, 86 players completed round one Monday, Oct. 20.

Round two is Tuesday, Oct. 21.

The season came to an end this evening for the Slater Lady Wildcats’ softball team.

A night after the fifth-seeded Lady ‘Cats hammered out an 18-3 victory over No. 4-seeded Meadville in the quarterfinal round, the Lady ‘Cats lost a 13-3 decision to top-seeded Gallatin in the semifinal round of the Class 1, District 6 Tournament at Brunswick.

The Lady Wildcats finish the season 7-13 overall.

It’s on to the semifinal round of Class 1, District 6 Tournament at Brunswick for the Slater Lady Wildcats’ softball team.

The fifth-seeded Lady ‘Cats pounded out an 18-3 victory over No. 4-seeded Meadville in five innings in the quarterfinal round Wednesday.

Slater improved to 7-12.

The Lady ‘Cats will play top-seeded and 14-13 Gallatin (an 11-1 winner over eighth-seeded Tina-Avalon/Southwest (Livingston) Wednesday) in the semifinal round at 5 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 16, at Brunswick High School.

The Marshall Lady Owls softball team rallied late but lost to Hannibal 14-12 in the first round of the Class 4, District 5 Tournament at Jefferson City High School Wednesday.

The Lady Owls finish the season 9-19 overall, including 3-7 in the NCMC.
