LETTER TO THE EDITOR . . .
Mr. Rios,
I knew something new and refreshing had come over our local newspaper, the Marshfield Mail! Then I noticed there was a new writer in the paper...you! I want to congratulate you on some interesting articles. I enjoyed your "Their Stories, Our Community: Marshfield Senior Center Feature" about two seniors. In fact, I had thought for some time that we have some very interesting people who live in Marshfield and that it would be a nice addition if some of these persons were interviewed and highlighted weekly in the Mail. Please write more about our local citizens! I also enjoyed the article about the election. It was upbeat and informative. It's nice to see a positive slant to the headlines. Your article about Kirk Quilivan was also captivating. Great story!
I have considered cancelling my subscription because the paper was so thin and really few articles of interest. As a retired teacher, I have been missing articles about our schools. I know parents will buy papers if their children and grandchildren are in the paper. I have asked why we don't have more articles of interest and have been told there are no reporters except the editor. So sad. So anyway, I want to thank you for your articles. I hope you continue to write engaging articles about our community.
By the way, there is an event in conjunction with the Cherry Blossom Festival called "Famous Missourians Living History Museum" on April 22 on the grounds of the Dickey House, where about 400 local 3rd graders from Marshfield, Niangua, Conway, Fordland, and Sparta will participate. This is the 3rd year for this event, which gets little notice. I'd be happy to give you more info if you want it.
Thanks again for your contributions to the Marshfield Mail!
