RIP #402 You were a beautiful, strong, brave, and incredible mother bear. I was lucky to witness your courage in person last year when you fearlessly defended your cub after it fell over the falls. You stood face to face with Chunk, showing no fear. The wild is a place of raw truth—brutal and violent, yet breathtakingly beautiful and peaceful at the same time.

Two Bull Moose Rest After a Long Day

After a full day of chasing the ladies, these two bulls take a well-earned break. The larger bull seems to have had first pick, while the smaller one settles for what’s left—nature’s pecking order at its finest.

Long Alaskan winters provide the perfect time to slow down and reflect—for both humans and moose! 🫎❄️ Unlike some animals in Alaska, moose don’t hibernate, so they’re a common sight throughout the winter here in Talkeetna. Bull moose, weighing between 1,200 and 1,600 pounds, prefer using our hard-packed trails, roads, and driveways to avoid sinking into several feet of soft snow. With their incredible sense of smell, they’re also known to inspect parked vehicles for road salt. Have you ever spotted a moose up close during the winter Share your story with us below!⬇️
