A Union City man has been taken into custody on multiple charges that includes r**e and kidnapping.
Martin Police Chief Phillip Fuqua said 46 year old Robert Micheal Higgins has been charged with one count each of r**e, kidnapping and aggravated kidnapping, burglary and two counts of theft of property.
The charges were issued after an investigation that began on September 15th following a domestic dispute on North Lindell Street.
Police reports said two females indicated Higgins became violent with them, assaulted them, and then took their personal property.
Chief Fuqua said Higgins was arrested on this date for domestic assault.
Following additional interviews with the two female victims, it was discovered that Higgins had allegedly r**ed one victim in a semi-truck at the location, and held them against their will.
Higgins is being held in the Weakley County Detention Center.

Tennessee deer hunters can go to the woods with their muzzleloader or archery starting on Saturday.
All six of Tennessee’s Deer Management Units will be open for hunting through November 25th.
In Unit 1, which includes Lake, Obion and Weakley County, there is an antlerless deer bag limit of three per day, with the statewide bag limit for antlered deer set at two.
The statewide gun season for deer will also open on Saturday, November 22nd and will continue until January 4th of 2026.
The Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency is recommending hunters obtain the Tennessee Hunting and Trapping Guide to review license requirements and bag limits for the six hunting areas.

A ceremony was held in Graves County on Tuesday recognizing a $5.3 million dollar expansion and 40 new jobs.
Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear joined local leaders in celebrating the newly expanded facility of MRCOOL in the Hickory Industrial Park.
A 22,000 square foot expansion for office space brings the facility to a total of almost 121,000 square feet, and complements the 100,000 square foot distribution site in the industrial park.
The new expansion included two floors of office space, a large showroom, video graphics for marketing and a customer service and warranty team call center.
Founded in Hickory in 2013, HVAC Distributing is a national wholesale distributor of heating and air conditioning equipment, which established the MRCOOL brand.
The company currently employees 279 workers.
