Kentucky State Police at Post 1 Mayfield has reported an increase in scams recently, including scams impersonating law enforcement.
Over the past few days, Post 1 reports show individuals on the S*x Offender Registry have received phone calls from someone alleging to be Post 1 Commander, Captain Joey Adams.
The scammers are advising of a warrant related to their S*x Offender Registry status and then request money for a bond payment.
Kentucky State Police are reassuring the public that law enforcement will not call to advise of a warrant or request money related to a warrant.
State Police also says use of information obtained from the s*x offender registry, to harass a person, is a criminal offense punishable by up to ninety days in jail.

The Union City School System has been recognized by the Tennessee Department of Education.
School Communications Director Mike Hutchens said all three schools received a letter grade of “A” for 2024-25 in the State Report Card data.
The school letter grade provides a snapshot of how each school is meeting the state’s expectations for learning.
That includes measures of student achievement and academic growth, as well as college and career-readiness for high schools.
The calculation to generate A-through-F letter grades consists of four separate indicators and includes the growth of the highest-need students.
The latest accomplishment comes one month after all three Union City campuses were recognized as Federal Reward Schools by Governor Bill Lee and the Department of Education.
